My Escape

Chapter One

I was walking to school on a Tuesday. Alone. Listening to 5 Seconds Of Summer "Long Way Home". I arrived at school not long after that song ended and walked in to homeroom. I sat down in my seat that I privately asked the teacher for. The one in the back corner of the room. The popular cheerleader sat in front of me next to her friends. (At the time she asked for the seat in the back, she didn't know that the cheerleader and her friends were going to sit in front of her) She turns around and stares at me before saying, "Why do you always look like you belong on the streets?" Her and her friends laugh.
I look down at my assignment that the teacher handed me as I walked into the room.
"OMG haha what a total geek." she laughed some more.
She took my paper, crumbled it, and threw it across the room.
"Go fetch, dog."
By now, everyone was watching the little scene happening between me and her 'squad'.
I got up and went to get my paper but as I bend down to get it someone dumps water on me and they kick my paper farther away.
I sit back down and don't even bother to get my assignment back.
The teacher walks in, Mrs.Rose.
"Hello class, today we have 4 new students joining our class coming all the way from Australia. Come on now boys, get in here." She says as she motions them in here.
Oh. My. God. 5SOS just walked in.
"This is Luke, Calum, Michael, and Ashton." she says pointing at each as she says their name.
They all wave while I'm trying not to freak out.
To makes things better I was dripping wet from that kid that poured water on me and my makeup was under my eyes because the water messed it up.
"Okay boys, go take those four seats in the back beside Kristen." she says and points at me.
My eyes widen and I do a little wave.
They walk back and now Calum Hood is sitting beside me. He's less than 2 feet away from me.
"Hello." he says to me and smiles a very friendly smile.
"U-uhm.. h-hi-hello." I respond.
Nice going Kris, you already made a fool out of yourself in the 10 seconds they've known you.
He grins from ear to ear.
I totally forgot I was wearing my 5 Seconds Of Summer shirt.
"I like your shirt." he tells me.
"Hehe.. thankss.." I feel the heat rise to my cheeks.
He chuckles then whispers to Luke sitting beside him.
Luke looks at me, smiles and waves. I wave back. And he whispers to Michael and he does the same thing Luke did, then Michael whispers to Ashton and Ashton does the same that Michael did.
So now they all know that I'm a fan.
"Why are you wet?" Calum asks me.
"Oh-um, its nothing, just a water incident." I say a little to quickly for him to believe what I said was true.
"I know you're lying but you should hang out with us sometime, I'd like to get to know you." he says as he writes something down on a sheet of paper and hands it to me.
His phone number. I smile and put the paper in my pocket.
The bell rings and we all get up for our next class.
I gather my books.
"Um, who do you have next?" Calum asks me.
"Mr.Staley. Why?"
"I have him next too! Would you mind walking with us to our next class, we all have that class next." he asks.
"I would love to!" I said smiling.
"Yay! Thank you so much!!"
He said to me then turned to the rest of the boys.
"Hey lads, Kristen is going to walk with us to our next class, she has the same one that we all have next!" Calum said super excited.
"Yay! Thank You!" Michael said.
"Thanks!" Ashton said.
"Th-thank you.." Luke said smiling weakly.
Ah, the awkward little penguin.
"Ok come on! Let's go!!" Calum said lightly tugging on my arm and heading towards the door.
"Ok" I giggled.
