Out of all the disasters I've made, why did I make this one? I should've known he would do that to me, i'm such a fool, honestly. Viktor puts his head down.
"I'm sorry," he says guilty.
"I failed," Boris tries to say something but I interrupt him.
"No Boris, that was my only chance to kill him, and I messed it up, I can't do this," I say putting my head down.
I can sense that Boris is about to scold me, but then Viktor whispers something, and they walk off. I begin to think of everything, of how I wouldn't be in this position if I just accepted death, but no, I needed to live to fulfill my life.
Somethings in life must be done alone, I remember Maria telling me, out of all my family members, Maria was my favourite, we had a lot of things in common. We shared a room, gossiped together and we're like best friends even though we were sisters. I can't help but think about her dying words, so you'll always have a part of me with you, and just remember I love you, Anastasia, I will do anything for you, I know I should be thinking of another plan, but I can't, all my past experiences flood inside my head.
" If I had just..."
"killed him," a voice says behind me.
I turn around and see my sister, Maria.
"What are you doing here?" I ask her.
"I'm only here as a guide," Maria says.
I look and questionably.
"You haven't failed, Anastasia."
"How can you say that," I begin.
"It's my fault you died," I say barely an whisper while crying.
"What do you mean?" Maria asks.
"Do you remember the day, when Pavel was shot?"
Maria nods her head at me, her brown hair falling over her shoulders, I know it's technically her spirit/ghost, but oh well.
"After you screamed, I confronted Vladimir, and I said something I shouldn't have said, if one was to escape what would the punishment be. And it got all of you killed." tears begin to slide down my face.
"What?"
I silently cry, allowing tears roll down my cheeks.
"You're not a failure, and it's okay, i'm with Pavel and i'm happy," Maria smiles at me.
Well, you never knew how to tell your mouth to shut up," we both laugh.
"But I have let you down, I can't take back Russia, Maria, It's not possible, I had my chance to prove myself worthy, but I failed I didn't kill him."
"That's where your wrong, mother has been watching you from the heavens, we are proud of you. Life will always be tough, it's just how humans are. But I know you will overthrow Vladimir Lenin, your a Romanov, and it's takes a lot to take us down. I believe you can do it, Anastasia, just take it one step at a time."
How can I do that?" I ask.
"That is for you to decide,"
"You know what you must do, so show them why they must never mess with the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia." Maria says.
I close my eyes, and see everything, I open my eyes seeing Maria is gone but I now know what I must do.
