Chapter 10

Aidan's POV

I just arrived at school with Tyler, he wonders off towards Caroline. I listen to them from a far "I can't talk to you." Caroline says to him, hah, I wonder why that is? "I know you're upset but..." Tyler tries to explain but Caroline cuts him off "Upset? You almost got Jeremy killed! And before you ask me to understand, or to support you, can you at least tell me what you're planning to do about your sire-bond to Klaus?" Caroline asks. "There is nothing that I can do about it! Caroline! That's the point. I just wanted you to know that I understand why you can't be with me. Even though I want to put you first, before anyone I can't. I'll never be able to. And I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just want you to know that." Tyler says, "I'm sorry too." Caroline says back. Tyler hands a small drawstring bag "Happy Birthday." He says to her then walks away into the school.

I start to walk away from school because if Tyler won't find a way out of his sire bond to Klaus then I will. When I got home, I had some time to think and it seems like this sire-bond thing is something a witch can solve. So, I texted a witch who also happens to be my Cousin, the doorbell rings and I open the door "Hey Cuz." Emory greets, I smile "Hey, Emory." I greet back. I let him in "So, what was so urgent?" Emory asks, I explain the situation to him. Emory sighs deeply "Well, sire bonds are tricky and rare." He tells me, "Yeah, not so much with hybrids." I tell him, "Is there anything you can do?" I ask him. Emory thinks for a moment then shakes his head "Nothing short of putting a stake through Klaus' black heart but that wouldn't kill him and I don't think it'll stop the sire bond." He explains. I sigh frustrated "Sorry, Cuz. Wish I could do more." He tells me, "It's all right..." I say disappointed. My phone rings it's Tyler, I answer it "Yeah." I say. Tyler tells me what happened over the phone, he was told by Klaus to bit Caroline but he refused, even though he refused he still bit her anyway, seriously this sire-bond is ruining our lives.

Tyler wants me to convince Klaus to cure her with his blood, I don't know why me but I'll try and if not, I'll just claw his throat out and hopefully save some in a cup or something. Emory did a locator spell and we tracked Klaus to the Founder's Hall. I text Klaus to come outside, he walks out of the hall smirking "Aidan, how lovely it is to see you. Emory, you're here too." He says. I glare at him "You told my Cousin to bite his Girlfriend and now she's dying, despite him telling you 'No'." I state, Klaus continues to smirk "Give me some of your blood to cure Caroline." I demand. Klaus chuckles "How about this, I take you to dinner in exchange for curing Caroline. I'll even cure her myself. What do you say, love?" He counters instead. I glance at Emory, who just shrugs his shoulders then I sigh "Fine, but text me when you've cured her." I say turning to leave but Klaus vamp-speeds in front of me. He holds out his hand "How about handshake to seal the deal?" He asks and I reluctantly do "Deal." I say, Klaus smirks then speeds away. Why does it feel like I just made a deal with the devil?

The next day, I go to Mystic Grill. I see Klaus sitting at the bar by himself, I go over and sit next to him, he's on the phone. Klaus smirks when he sees me "How's life on the road?" He says into the phone, I'm assuming he's talking to one of his hybrid minions. I hear his minion over his phone "Scenic. How Mystic Falls without hybrids?" His Minion asks back. Klaus' hybrids left Mystic Falls... does that mean Tyler left too? "Boring. For now." Klaus says, "If you want any of us back, you just say the word." His Minion says. "There's no need. I've been making friends with the town civil servants. You're clear on what you need to do?" Klaus asks, "I got it covered." His Minion replies then Klaus hangs up.

Klaus turns his full attention to me smiling "I got your text. Thanks for curing Caroline." I tell him, "No problem, love." He says and I sigh... I really wish he would stop calling me that. "So, your hybrids are out of Mystic Falls, how did that happen?" I ask him, Klaus exhales "Well, Stefan give me an ultimatum that I couldn't refuse." He tells me. I chuckle "Sounds like Stefan got the better of you, huh." I tease, Klaus smile a bit "That, he did." He says. "So, are you any closer to getting your Family back?" I ask him, Klaus smirks "I am." He says. That doesn't sound good for whoever's involved "So, about this date I promised you—" I state but Klaus interrupts me, "You're not going back on it, are you?" He asks. I shake my head "No, I just want to know when this date is going happen. Tonight, maybe. Tomorrow, next month, next year...?" I ask a little anxious. Klaus smiles "Eager, are we?" He teases, I glare at him "Well, until I find my Family, I'll have to take a rain check." He tells me. I sigh annoyed, Klaus' phone chimes and he checks it then smirks "Seems our date will happen sooner than I thought. I have to go, when I'm available I'll text you. Be ready." He tells me then leaves. I sigh shaking my head.

I go home and find Tyler packing a bag "Hey, what are you doing?" I ask him. "I'm uh, I'm leaving." He tells me. My eyebrows furrow in confusion "Why?" I ask, "I-I found a way to break my sire-bond." He answers. My eyes widen shocked "H-how?" I stutter asking. Tyler explains that in order to break his bond, he has turn over, and over, and over, and over again... that's... gonna be painful "I'm coming with you." I say. Tyler looks at me shocked "What? No, you can't—" He says but I cut him off "No, I'm coming with you. All right." I tell him leaving no room for argument. Tyler nods "All right. Thanks, Aidan." He says, I smile "No problem, Cousin." I say. I packed a bag and left with Tyler that day, leaving Mystic Fall behind again.
