Chapter 1: The Grand Party

KAYDA'S POV:

Ugh, I've been walking all around town now and can't seem to find this Ayakashi that Rem mentioned. Maybe he was mistaken but that's highly doubtfully knowing him. Oh, no it's almost 10 I have to get to the bar soon!

*RING RING*

"Huh?" I look down at my phone to see Rem calling me.

"Hey, Rem. I'm not seeing that Ayakashi you mentioned are you sure you saw it?" I asked

"I swear I saw it! He was down by the park looking at the fountain!" Rem shouted.

"No need to yell, you're gonna make me go deaf. But wait if he wasn't doing anything bad then why'd you tell me? He might be a good Ayakashi. *Sigh* Next time only tell me if you know for sure they were doing something suspicious. I don't wanna go running around town because you're paranoid. Plus I have to get to the bar soon, my shifts gonna start in 20 minutes and if I'm late again my boss is gonna kill me." I said while rubbing my head.

"Uh, I know I'm sorry Kayda but I didn't tell you it because I thought he was suspicious it-"

"Wait, then why did you send me on this wild goose chase?"

"Well, uh he looked lost..." Rem sheepishly said.

"He looked lost? Uh, well if that's the case then should I help every Ayakashi that's lost?" I asked sarcastically.

"Uh, that's not what I'm saying. I know you might not want to but you're the only one who can help him." Rem exclaimed.

"Yeah, I know because I'm a Diviner blah, blah, blah. It's my job, I know."

"But, don't let him know you're a Diviner I don't want anything to happen to you."

"Rem, I know. I'll be careful, don't worry I have dad's amulet that he gave me. But I'll be sure to call you if anything happens but I'll let you go now. Bye"

"Bye Kayda, be safe." Rem said as I hung up.

Rem can be such a worrywart sometimes, but I'm glad to have him as my brother, well actually I'm adopted but nonetheless we're family. Rem's family adopted me when I was 5, I have no idea who my birth parents or why they put me up for adoption. But ever since that day I officially became a Sohma and my life couldn't be better, well besides Rika. Rika is my sister and ever since our dad went missing on his exploration looking for ways to help me as a Diviner, she's blamed me and always acts out at me. I miss Dad, I hope he's still alive and okay but it's been 5 years now and we still haven't gotten any letter from him so it's unlikely but I won't give up hope.

Oh, looks like I reached the park Rem was talking about and he was right there is an Ayakashi here by the fountain. He's just looking down into the fountain I wonder what he's thinking about. I walked over to the man.

"Hello, sir. Are you okay? Are you lost?" I asked while smiling. Luckily for me he can't sense my spiritual energy thanks to my amulet that father gave me that conceals my energy from Ayakashi and other magical beings. The man just glanced my way then looked back at the fountain.

"Uh, well I was looking for a bar around here. My brother and I were supposed to meet there but I kinda got lost." The man explained while rubbing the back of his neck.

Wow, he's really handsome, his silver hair and chiseled features are so eye-catching it's like he's from an anime. I can't keep my eyes off him

"Oh, well whats the bar you're looking for? I know this city like the back of my hand. I can take you there." I smiled. The man finally looked my way.
