"Why are you always writing?"
"Hey loser! Get your nose out of that notebook!"
"Hey stupid! Do you ever leave that notebook at home?"
"Hey Trevor,
So the kids are teasing me again. But I'm ok. Mom says they don't understand why I carry my letters to you everywhere I go. Your last letter asked me how the sixth grade was. It's ok. I miss recess and being able to see the clouds and birds. I made honor roll again. Dad says that if I keep it up, we can go to Cedar Point next summer. Maybe you can come too!! You'll be home by then right? I walked into your room last week and stole one of your shirts and looked at your drumset. Mom says its too quiet without you playing it. I think so too. Mom cried when she heard about the bombing in Iraq. Are you safe there? Old man Thompson says that the whole town is praying a hedge of protection around you and your friends. What does that mean? Do you have a hedge around your camp? I miss you so much and sometimes I can't help but cry. I know you told me to be brave but I miss you and mom and dad miss you too. Christmas wasn't the same and niether was Easter. I love you Trevor. Be safe and see you in June.
Love your little sister."
I kissed the letter and smiled at the blue star handing from the front room window.
