He fell to his knees your note in his hands, tears rolling down his cheeks, falling onto the paper smudging the ink. He couldn't believe it why didn't you tell him to his face?
Dear Lando,
As your reading this I'm most likely on my way to the airport. I'm so sorry to have to tell you like this but I couldn't face you. Two weeks ago my Dad accepted a job offer in Germany. I fought to try and stay here in the country where I've always felt at home, stay where you my best friend was. But I lost. I was told that I was being selfish and I know I am. This is even more proof of it. I will always remember you Lando I may only be twelve and you thirteen but I have had the best memories with you. Going karting you beating me every time. If your angry at me I know I deserve it. I hope you'll remember me and when we are old enough we can meet up again. I'll always support you, Lando don't give up you're so talented and you'll achieve your dreams one day.
Your best friend,
Y/NHe was angry not at you but at what you did, why didn't you tell him, just yesterday you had both been laughing not a care in the world and now you were gone. He picked up his phone opening your contact, he tried to call you but there was no answer, the voicemail message spoke. He sighed ending the call.
You were sat in the plane beside the window, you hadn't spoken to either of your parents since they told you, your head fell against the glass as the plane took of climbing up higher the place you called home slowly becoming smaller and smaller. "Y/N, this is an amazing opportunity, Germany will be awesome!" Your father tried to initiate conversation you just shrugged your shoulders ignoring him, soon the plane touched down in Germany. The start of a life you didn't want.
Years later Lando was moving out of his parents house and into his own apartment in Surrey, he'd just missed out on the F2 Championship to George Russell one of his closest rivals and friends. While emptying out the last of his draws he spotted a note, the note you had written to him seven years prior, he sat down on his bed re-reading the faded letters on the page. "Lando, dinners ready!" His mum called him, he hurriedly stuffed the note into his pocket rushing out of his room and downstairs. Sitting down at the table he helped himself to the tasty meal his mum had prepared for his last night at home. "Mum , do you remember Y/N?" He asked, looking up at her.
"Yes, she moved to Germany with her parents a while back didn't she?" He nodded. Like the note had said he would achieve his dreams one day and now he had signed for McLaren, it was his rookie year and he hoped to prove himself to be a talented driver.
In Germany, you had made new friends but you had never forgot him, you'd been keeping track of his progress you'd had been ecstatic finding out that he'd made it into F1. He was in the top twenty drivers in the world. You had recently graduated from college with a degree in journalism, after leaving Britain you hadn't been karting again, instead you invested yourself into your studies which has led you to graduating with distinctions. You entered your families home which you grew to like after arriving and shouted to the kitchen, "Ich bin zurück!"(I'm back!) You had arrived from another bad job interview. For some reason you just weren't happy. You sighed dropping down onto the sofa. Your mum looked sat you. "Oh sorry," You switched back to English after arriving you and your father learnt to speak fluent German adding to the list that you could speak, your mum however didn't bother. Scrolling through Instagram you froze as a notification came through.
Lando Norris has private messaged you.
You swallowed opening up the message by tapping on his icon.
Lando - We need to talk
Y/N - Why?
Lando - I need answers
Y/N - My number is 0049 6667 243
Lando - Thanks x
What was he talking about we haven't spoken in seven years we lost contact and now? Why now? You entered your bedroom sitting down at your desk. Your phone rang his number showing up. You took a deep breath before answering it
Lando - Hello?
Y/N - Hi.
Lando - Oh thank god I thought you'd given me a fake number!
Y/N - *laugh* I would never.
It was silent, not an awkward silent but just silence.
Y/N - So... Why did you need answers?
Lando - Why did you leave just a note?
Y/N - Lando... I
Lando - Please Y/N? There's a reason we'd been best friends since forever and it was just a note?
Y/N - I was scared.
Lando - Scared?
Y/N - Yes, I'd promised to always support you and I had to leave to Germany. I couldn't face you.
Lando - *sigh* I wouldn't have minded Y/N. You had no option. I'd just wish that you'd spoken to me before you let.
Y/N - I am sorry Lando. I wish I could speak to you face to face now.
Lando - Of course!
Y/N - What?
Lando - I can get you a plane ticket to Bristol, I'll pick you up. Spend a few days with me in Surrey before the season starts again? Maybe you can come with me to some?
Y/n - I can't let you do that for me?
Lando - Yes you can send me your email!
Y/N - Fine. I'll message you.
He hung up the phone, you sighed letting you head fall into your hands. You were debating whether to send your email to him.
Y/N - My email is (19Surname(Y)@gmail.com)
Lando - Thanks I'll send you the info in a bit.
You stood up looking out of the window of your bedroom which looked over the city of Leipzig. The sun was setting casting a golden glow over the city. You shook your head, getting ready for bed. Just as you were plugging your phone in to go to sleep. You had a notification. It was Lando he had sent your plane ticket information.
Lando - See you on Friday 😉
You smiled quickly falling asleep, think about seeing him again.
A/N - This is for @medusa206! Thank you for the suggestion. I've had to split it into two with a potential third part. I hope I did what you were hoping for! n a user
