Kali's POV

“Kalifa Antonette Thompson,” Was all my mother could mutter out. I repeated what I said, for the third time.

“I'm a lesbian. And Fiona, I love her.” I confessed. This was the final time I would say that. My brother, Yohan was standing at the door, motionless. My mother furrowed her eyebrows.

“Get out.” She mumbled, trying not to look me in the eye. I froze, trying to process what she had just said. “Get out!” She exclaimed. Realizing that she was serious, I walked to my bedroom, sorting out a plan. I could hear my father and mother argue ferociously, as if it was their problem. I pulled out a suitcase that was underneath my bed, and stacked my clothes, toiletries, and my possessions all inside. Yohan knocked on my bedroom door.

“Come in.”

He kneeled down next to me.

“Kali, I just want to tell you,” I looked up at him. “I've always known,” My eyes started to tear up. “It doesn't matta' to me, though.” He started rubbing my back. “I still love you, lickle sis.” I couldn't understand how my brother could still love me, and here my mother was kicking me out.

“So why don't they love me?” I asked.

“They – they na understand.” He helped me pack my suitcase, making sure I had everything I need. I rushed down the stairs, trying to ignore my parents, who were fighting. I got into the Range Rover, and started the ignition. Yohan stood outside my car door, and I rolled the windows down.

“You can stay with a bredren of mine, him live up –”

“It's fine, Yohan. I have a credit card. I'll be fine.” I assured him, pulling out of the driveway.

Even though it was almost ten o'clock, I had no intentions of going to sleep. I headed towards Fiona's hotel.

I pulled into the parking lot, striding to the lobby.

“Hello, how may I help you?” The receptionist asked.

“Hi, I'm look for a – Declan Coyne.” The receptionist processed my request, and within five minutes, Declan walked into the lobby. He looked tired.

“Kali, what do you want?” He said, groggily.

I explained the whole ordeal with Declan: how I invited Fiona to my house, how Fiona's mad at me, and how my parents kicked me out.

“Woah.” He muttered, “So why are you telling me this?”

“I want to, bring Fiona to a place called Blue Mountain tomorrow morning. It's in Portland. You can look it up. Just please, bring her there. Make it a surprise.” I explained to him. I expected for him to refuse to comply, but surprisingly, he agreed to my plan.

“Okay. Fine. Just tell me the time.”

Thanks, Declan.

Fiona's POV

“Will you tell me where we're going?” I asked, trying to sneak a peak through the blindfold Declan had created for me. We were in a cab, and Declan wouldn't tell me where we were going. Apparently, it was supposed to be a surprise. I hate surprises. A few moments later, the car came to a stop.
