TIP ONE:
If you are out of ideas or inspiration, you might want to follow what I do, which is to come up with a simple layout. Of course, this design is very flexible as you do the graphic itself. You need not follow the layout closely, but it would give you a sense of direction.

You may refer to various graphics for inspiration and maybe put together the ideas into your layout. This will allow you to come up with new styles or at least, you are able to make the graphic, even if it's the same style as others/the trend.

I usually would take time to analyse the placement of objects and text on other people's graphics, just to see how I could do my next design and if I could do something like theirs, then that means I can make it even better the next time. However, for really complex graphics, especially aesthetic ones where there's many overlays and objects put together, I can't analyse them because it's mostly random. And there's no way to make another graphic that is the same style as that.

EXAMPLE ONE:
BLOODLUST BANNER

The first thing that was on my mind when I saw the word "bloodlust", was of course, Blood

The first thing that was on my mind when I saw the word "bloodlust", was of course, Blood. And given many fanarts that I have seen, as well as anime, Kaneki was falling or trying to plunge down on the enemy. This will give the design a sad vibe, which is something that is usually present in most of my graphics. So, I wanted a falling Kaneki to be on the blood droplet, and that blood droplet will represent the pupil of the eye, to show "bloodlust".

Combining inspiration from Tina's orion graphic lines, this was the layout I made. Of course, during the designing process, it was difficult to find a render of kaneki falling, and the texture of the renders did not fit the background, and so I was unable to do that. However, I came up with the idea of combining various eye designs of kaneki and got the final design.

EXAMPLE TWO:
KANEKI KEN BANNER

I was surfing lofter when I saw the various slogan designs

I was surfing lofter when I saw the various slogan designs. They had like circles with picture of the character. You know those aesthetic covers with the same character but in various emotions/actions and bounded by a circle in a straight line.

I thought that looked pretty nice on the banners, and so I came up with my own shape design, which is square and diamond. I really loved how the slogans always have their text in the middle and some mini details/pictures around, thus the middle has the large text and tiny subtitles to make the graphic more full. Basically, this design was a result of my analysis of various slogan designs and combining those mini things (Esp placement of text and pics) that I learnt from each of them.

I did make a design with kaneki in front of the text, as it will give a more strong/aggressive feeling. And it did.

TIP TWO
How I analyse other people's works:

I take note of the general layout and text placements

I take note of the general layout and text placements. Depends on what you're weak at, actually. I am really bad at the placing of text, so I emphasise more on the locations of the text rather than on the background or objects. You don't really need to draw out the whole graphic very detailed, because you will be using a different render and objects from the graphic you took inspiration from. A rough outline is enough of a guide.
