Unforseen Romance

First Date

Emily had just woken up. She decided to start preparing for her day. She peeled off her pajamas and walked to the bathroom attached to her bedroom. She turned on the water for the shower and climbed in. She washed and rinsed her hair and then began shaving. As soon as she finished sh turned off the water and grabbed the towel that she brought into the bathroom. She wrapped it around herself and walked into her room. She went to the closet to pick out an outfit for the day. She went with a Lacey blue top and some short shorts. She dried off and got dressed.

She returned to the bathroom carrying her makeup bag. She decided on a smokey eye look with purple and blue. She then brushed her hair and french braided it to the side.

Once she was completely ready she grabbed her phone off the nightstand, it revealed two new messages. The first message read "Hey it's Matthew." The second said "Coffee?"

Emily responded and said "sure".

He said "Great send me your address and I'll be there at 2:00 pm."

Emily sent him the address and then decided to do some work around her apartment until he arrived. She finished the dishes that were in the sink. She put some laundry in the washer, and then vacuumed the living room.

She glanced at the clock and it said 1:55 pm. She decided to sit on the porch and wait. Sure enough at 2:00 Matthew pulled up in his blue Jeep. Emily walked down the stairs and towards the car.

Matthew stepped out and opened the passenger door. Emily climbed in and the door shut behind her. Matthew hopped back in the driver's seat.

Emily asked "Where are we going for coffee?"

He said "It's a surprise." He put the car in drive and they headed to their destination.

They had been driving for about 20 minutes and pulled into the next town over. The sign said 'Welcome to Clinton'. They drove a little further until he pulled the car into the parking lot of a cute little Cafe. The name of the cafe was 'Lava Java'.

Matthew exited the car and opened the door for Emily. She stepped out and they walked together inside.

They approached the counter and were greeted by a barista. She said " Hi there welcome to Lava Java what can I get for you guys today?"

Matthew said "Ladies first".

I said " Could I please get an iced caramel macchiato".

She responds "Of course and what will it be for you sir?"

Matt says "Could I get a iced caramel latte?"

The barista says "Yes anything else for you guys today?"

Matt says "No that's all thank you".

She says "Your total comes to 7.98$." Matt pulls out his wallet and pays for the drinks.

We go sit down at a table and start talking. We tell each other about ourselves and our interests. We finish our drinks and head to the car.

We drive the 20 minutes it takes to get back to Riverside. He pulls up to my house and opens the door. He grabs my hand and walks me to the door.

He said " I had a really great time with you today Emily."

I said " I had a wonderful day as well, Thank you".

He leans in for a kiss and I close my eyes as our lips touch softly. He pulls away and smiles at me. He says "Until next time gorgeous".

I feel my heart flutter as my back leaned against the door. I turned around and walked in the house with a huge grin on my face. That was the best day ever.
