after that night of pizza and wandering the streets, johnathan telling (y/n) about more places to go and try the food from, he dropped her off at home. she felt lucky that he'd said yes to getting her, as he knew the way easily. without him, she surely would've gotten lost, which she told him as such.

"i'm glad you asked, i may have had pizza earlier, but i'm always down for more slices!" he replied, smiling down at her. she smiled back. "goodnight (y/n), i'll message you tomorrow to work on the project?"

"yeah, yeah," (y/n) nodded quicky, "you stay safe walking home, johnathan, goodnight!" and with that, she reentered her apartment building and headed towards her floor.

just as promised yesterday, johnathan called her at 6pm. instead of focusing on their work and only work, they branched off into different topics. some including their favorite things, and eventually off into the branch of video games.

"what's your favorite.. video game?" (y/n) asked, spinning in her chair a little. they had turned on their webcams a while ago, and she was rather surprised to see that johnathan had a full blown setup in his room. a professional mic, a mic stand, a full blown headset, a whiteboard in the back with various writing on it-- the whole works was in his room. it put her simple headset and yeti mic to shame. when questioned, all he said was he played video games with friends.

"my favorite video game? uh, probably.. uh," he paused to think for a second, "god this is hard to pick," he chucked, pulling a laugh from (y/n) as well. "i think it'd maybe have to be minecraft? maybe? i don't know, i have a lot of good memories playing that as a kid and with friends more recently,"

"dude! i loved minecraft! i used to play in like, the glory days," (y/n) quiped, sitting up a bit more excitedly. "i haven't played it in forever though," she sunk back into her chair, picking up a pen from her desk and fiddling with it.

"do you still know your account?" johnathan asked slowly, looking away from the camera at his other monitor that (y/n) was sure he had, "you could always download it and play it, i'd be happy to teach you some!"

"i think i still remember it? let me check," she opened up the minecraft website and entered in her old username and password, and it worked! "i do! let me download it and we can totally play!"

"great! i think my mom just got home with some food, so i'm gonna go eat really quick and then i'll be back to play with you!" the conversation dissolved after that, both leaving the call and (y/n) humming as she downloaded her used-to-be favorite game. once it redownloaded, she waited patiently for johnathan to join again. suddenly, a call showed up on her screen. 

"i have returned!" he yelled out and she heard shuffling as he sat down in his chair, a water bottle in hand. "is it done?"

"yeah! do you have a server or something we can play on?"

"yes, i do! just so you know, it's with me and my other friends though, so there's some pretty weird stuff on it," he smiled sheepishly, "they don't mean any harm though, i'll text them and tell them you're going on in case they wanna meet you,"

"sure! send me the link and i'll get on," the link was sent and she joined the world, immediately being met with a mess of maps with various things on them. there was a giant board of maps and signs, each with stupid things on them, and a board separate from the rest of the maps and signs that had a picture of a yellow coin and a sign that read "schlattcoin" underneath.

"hey johnathan? what's schlattcoin?" (y/n) asked warily before she saw his username in chat,

"oh, just an inside joke between my friends and i," his character walked towards her, not sprinting, but just taking his time. he had nothing in his hands, but switched to some tools for her and a couple pieces of used armor. "this is some of my old stuff you can have to start out with, and then everything else will be yours,"

as johnathan walked her around the server and showed her all of his friend's houses and builds, (y/n) couldn't keep the smile off of her face. it was all so cool, she couldn't wait to meet these friends at some point, and maybe play with them.

just as she thought that, someone named cscoop joined the server, and quickly after someone else named callmecarson joined the server.

"oh, there's carson and cooper now," johnathan noted, replying to their typed messages of 'vc' in the minecraft chat, "do you wanna talk to them?"

(y/n) paused for a moment, weighing out her options. she'd talk to them eventually, why not today?

"sure, get them in a call,"
