It was the next day, Josie was waking up to the voice of Lizzie demanding that she wakes up.
"Jo! Wake up, it's 12pm!"
The smell of chamomile tea and freshly baked cookies was so comforting it almost made Josie forget how she ended up in her bedroom after last night. She sat up in her bed looking at Alaric who was sitting in the chair next to her as if she was in a hospital room and Lizzie on the other side holding the plate of cookies and a mug with tea.
"How did I end up here exactly?"
Josie still hadn't figure out why a part of last night was missing from her brain.
"We found you passed out in Hope's bedroom, with a trail of black goo in the carpet. We're hoping you can tell us why you did black magic in there?"
Alaric said while trying to remain calm but the truth is he could barely find the words to speak after finding Josie like that.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't even remember being in Hope's room"
Josie had stopped drinking her tea and could feel something burning in her skin. She got out of bed rapidly and went to the mirror to see that she has a rash in her arm. She couldn't feel the pain before from the shock and confusion but the pain had snapped her back to reality.
"You did black magic last night Jo, I can feel it too."
Lizzie stated while checking out her arms for any rashes. All the signs were pointing to Josie doing black magic but all Josie could remember was having an argument with Lizzie about Penelope and then it all goes dark.
"I can't remember why I did black magic. Or why I was in Hope's room, so can we please just drop this"
Alaric's concern about Josie was much bigger than any emotion he felt at the time which is why he wanted to give her time to heal and figure things out. He gets up and goes to Josie who is now applying a paste to remove the rash in her arm.
"Focus on getting better and we will discuss this later"
Alaric gives her a hug to which Josie does not respond. She finds it surprising that he let her get off so easily. But the real criticism starts after Alaric leaves.
"What were you even doing in the devil's room?"
Lizzie was most curious to know if Josie was trying to find Hope.
"I don't know, I probably went there because it's the only empty room in the school and since I did black magic for some reason, I needed privacy"
Josie didn't know if she was trying to convince Lizzie or herself that's the reason, but her mind was trying to tell her something else.
"Let's just hope it doesn't have to do anything with satan"
Lizzie said while fixing the sheets on Josies bed.
"It's not about Hope. Even her aunt, who is a Mikaelson witch can't track her."
Josie stated as she got dressed, and before Lizzie could say anything they heard a knock on the door. As soon as Josie noticed it was Penelope she rolled down the sleeves of her red sweater to hide the rash.
"Hey Lizzie! Sebastian is waiting for you downstairs. Something about a date, I don't know I stopped listening at some point." Penelope said with a smirk on her face, trying not to look at how beautiful Josie looked in her uniform skirt, and her red cropped sweater. Lizzie's eyes almost popped out when she realized she had forgotten about her date with Sebastian. Pushing Josie away from the mirror Lizzie changed out of her uniform into a beautiful blue dress, that made her hair shine even more with the flick of a finger. She often used her magic to change her appearance quickly so she doesn't spend time getting ready. Before Penelope could even walk into the room Lizzie had already stormed off and given Penelope the perfect chance to finally admire how good Josie looked.
"I'd ask you why are you wearing your uniform on a Saturday but you look so good I don't really want you to take it off. Unless you want to take it off...?" Penelope bit her lip while checking Josie out.
"Well that explains why Lizzie's going on a date, and why I woke up at 12. I completely forgot it was a Saturday. I woke up 10 minutes ago and my day has already been a mess"
Josie sad while trying not to react to the comment Penelope made about how good she looked.
"Since Lizzie is gone for the day we could have a little fun of our own. Just name something and we'll do it" Penelope suggested but Josie had some bitter news for her.
"Actually we need to talk about something. Lizzie saw us kissing last night and started freaking out..."
Josie was interrupted by Penelope who above all was shocked at how Lizzie didn't even say anything to her today
"And she didn't say anything about it when I walked in. Did you spell her to forget or something?"
Penelope said sarcastically but ironically enough that was the truth.
"Actually...I did."
Josie stopped to look at how Penelope would react and just as she predicted Penelope was shocked but before she could say anything Josie continued.
"She started freaking out about how you're her only friend here and how we don't kiss each other's friends and I didn't now what to do so I spelled her to forget she saw us kissing"
"You know this doesn't help us at all? She's gonna have to find out eventually Jo."
"Tell her what exactly? What are we Penelope? Because a normal couple would have at least a first date before making an announcement"
Something inside of Josie popped off. She couldn't tell if it was the black magic or her actual emotions speaking but she did know one thing. She couldn't take back what she said.
"And whose fault is it that we haven't had a first date yet?"
Penelope felt like there were nails in her throat while she was speaking. She stormed out of the room before Josie even got a chance to say anything. Josie could feel the floor beneath her trembling, her blood rushing through her veins like a river, and her hands shaking.
"Motus"
she yelled and the door in front her slammed shut. She closed her eyes and started breathing heavily. Every time she felt like she was panicking Josie always thought of a happy place, or a moment.
It always helped calm her down but this time the second she opened her mind the first thing to appear was the image of a red haired girl, dressed all in black, her lips as red as the blood dripping from her blackened eyes. Josie could barely tell who that is until she spotted a bracelet with the figure of a rose
in it. That's when she knew it was Hope.
Before she could see anything else Josie opened her eyes in terror. Surprisingly she felt calmer than she did before. She knew that what she saw wasn't a coincidence, it was a memory.
