CHAPTER FIFTEEN: The Right Timing

THE NEXT DAY, JOHN WAS WEDDED TO ONE OF THE LEE GIRLS.

The ceremony was similar to Thomas and Tabitha's since it was all last minute. John has no idea he was going to his own wedding while they walked into Lee territory. He was going to refuse to, but changed his mind learning that the father of the bride was giving him a car.

Ada has shown up, getting the letter given to Grace from Thomas. She stood beside her older brother during the ceremony, telling Thomas that Freddie wasn't speaking to her and calling her a fucking Shelby. Then she said that she was a Thorne, and Thomas said a thorn in my side. Tabitha and Ada were glad to see her, the gypsy woman missed her sister in-law so much since she left to London with Freddie.

The bride's name was Esme, and she was a very beautiful young woman. Johnny Dogs officiated the wedding, pronouncing John and Esme husband and wife after they slit their palms to join then two families. John and Esme then kissed and everyone cheered and clapped.

That night, the Lees and the Shelbys dance together, drunk and laughed together. There was no fighting, no war, just friendship, just like the night of Thomas and Tabitha's wedding. John and Esme looked happy, as if it were love at first sight. They smiled and laughed at each other, sitting together as everyone enjoyed themselves. Arthur was chugging down pints of beer and having a good time, dancing with an intoxicated and pregnant Ada.

Thomas and Tabitha were dancing as well, but it was silent between them. They hadn't talked at all that moment, Tabitha sinking in how Thomas forced his little brother into the betrothal. She wasn't able to get over how Lizzie Stark was in the family car with Thomas as he offered her money. It made the Romani woman a little insecure and jealous, feeling as if she was never going to be good enough for a man like Thomas Shelby. Thomas knew something was wrong with Tabitha because she was quiet as a mouse.

"Okay, what is wrong?" Thomas asked, getting annoyed from the silence. "You haven't spoken to me since this morning and I can tell there's something bothering you."

"You forced John into this, didn't you?" Tabitha questioned in a faint voice. "I bet you didn't tell him until we got here."

"If I told him last night, he would've refused to come. But because I didn't tell him, we finally have peace."

"Is that the real reason why you offered Lizzie the money? To get her out of the way of your plans?" She continued giving questions. "Or is it because you still want her and wanted to stop her and John from getting married?"

"Of course not, I already told you why," Thomas replied, and it was the truth. "And you're now all of a sudden jealous of the prostitute when you're always out and about with Grace?"

Tabitha scoffed at Thomas' jealousy of her Irish friend. "All of this because I have ONE fucking friend that's outside the family?"

"Not to mention all the men in the Garrison who look at you the wrong way."
