Dear Father

Dear father,

You may not know this, but you've changed my life, for better and worse. The day I was born I gave you my heart, and after four years of my life you shattered it. You were supposed to give me your heart, but you were like a thief and stole mine. My heart, innocent, and fragile; yet strong and genuine.

You left when I was three. Then again when I was six.  Back and forth for many years. And finally, you left all at once, never to return.

A whole new job. A whole new family. A whole new life. You built your new life without plans of me. Your flesh and blood never to be thought of once.

But don't feel bad I forgive you, because sixteen years has passed and my heart is beaten and  bruised. After years of pain and heartache, my heart is stronger, wiser, and full of compassion.

You taught me never to leave, or cause pain to the people I love. I had to experience the agony of my father leaving me for another, like he cheated his family.

God told me to love you, and I do. "You'll forever be my father and I'll be saying tears in jars"
