Chapter 2: Have we met before?

Taehyung stayed beside Jungkook for 3 days. Since it was the holidays, he didn't need to leave to go to school. The others would come around from time to time to check up on them and bring Taehyung food.

On the third day, Jungkook woke up. He felt a dull pain in his head, like someone was hammering away at his skull continuously. Wincing, he tried to move and found that his hand was being held by someone. Opening his eyes, he looked over to his right where a boy was sleeping beside the bed. He was the prettiest guy he had ever seen, with ethereal features and fluffy blonde hair. It was like seeing an angel. All the boy was missing was some wings and a halo.

How did he get here? He couldn't remember. The boy beside him began to stir, Jungkook's movements must have woken him up.

Taehyung opened his eyes, still half asleep. He looked up to check on Jungkook, but was startled when he saw the other staring intently back at him with a slightly puzzled expression. Jungkook had woken up! Taehyung was tempted to pinch himself to see if it was real, it didn't feel like a dream.

"You're awake!" Tears of joy welled up in Taehyung's eyes. He buried his face into the younger's chest and gave him a hug, laughing. He was so elated that he didn't notice Jungkook wasn't hugging back. Jungkook pushed the older boy away a little too roughly, he was still disorientated and he had no idea who the other was.

Caught off guard, Taehyung stumbled backwards and nearly fell, his eyes widening in shock.

"Do I know you?" He asked, looking suspiciously at the strange boy.

"It's me Taehyung! Kookie, don't you remember?" He managed to reply, still in shock. Had Jungkook forgotten about him?

"You seem familiar, have we met before?" Jungkook asked again.

"JEON JUNGKOOK THIS ISN'T FUNNY, stop it right now- you're scaring me!" Taehyung shouted. Why would Jungkook play such a stupid prank on him?

Jungkook didn't say anything, only stared at him like HE was the one who was mad.

Before either of them could say anything else, voices could be heard getting closer in the hallway. Among them, Jin's distinctive laugh stood out the most, having just made a dad joke that all the others were groaning over. They came into the room, chatting with each other.

"Jungkook! You're awake!" Hobi exclaimed, a sunny smile on his face.

"Hoseok! You guys are all here!" Jungkook laughed weakly, wincing as the pain from the headache made it's presence known again as he laughed.

Meanwhile, Taehyung stood off to the side, seemingly forgotten. Did this mean that Jungkook remembered everyone except for him? How was that even possible? This has to be some kind of sick joke.

As always, Jimin was the first to notice something off about his best friend.

"What's wrong Tae?" He walked over to Taehyung, who stood silently watching the rest of them laughing and chatting away by Jungkook's bedside.

"I...it's nothing," Taehyung mumbled. "Actually...I need to speak with Jungkook...alone." He finished, looking up from his daze. Jimin didn't know what was going on, but he agreed, walking over to herd the rest of the guys out. Namjoon looked back, slightly puzzled as he too had just started to notice Taehyung's strange behaviour.
