I sat at a table in a restaurant watching absolute mayhem, that was going on in front of me. The pink-haired boy that had canceled out the spell sat in front of me with his blue cat, and they were eating anything and everything that got in front of them.
"Natsu and Happy wasn't it?" I asked, still disturbed by the fact that these guys were actually eating away at the rest of my wallet. "So what species are you?" I asked trying to be polite and make conversation.
"I'm human." Natsu said while he continued to stuff his face.
"And I'm a cat." Happy said.
"Happy here is a program in the game." Natsu explained.
"A program?" I asked. "Why would you trust a program in the game? The same game that has us trapped here." Natsu stopped eating for a second.
"Cause it's a helping program." He said. "Happy helps you get to where you're going. Like a companion or a guide."
"Hmm." I hummed not sure how I liked the sound of it. "So, are you part of a Guild yet?" I asked.
"Hmm?" Natsu looked at me with his mouth past full and it looked like he was trying to answer but just couldn't.
"I'm not part of a Guild yet, I actually haven't been able to find one that would really suit me best. I keep getting told that my magic is extremely powerful, but I have yet to really use it. All I really know about it is that it's expensive as hell." I ranted off a bit. Guess I missed talking to people, real people.
"You haven't gotten into fights yet?" He asked me.
"A few side quest type fights." I said. "I've been doing a lot of small quests in order to make money. Faster I can do an objective the faster I get paid. And more for me since I'm running solo right now."
"Well taking on bigger fights can do that even faster." He told me as he finished another plate of food.
"Yeah, I know that." I said, obviously since that's how games work. I sighed as I finally realized that I might actually be in the prescience of a Simp, who thought that this was a date.
'He probably thinks I'm an E-Girl. Great.'
"However, I'm also looking to build my magical abilities before getting into any major boss fights." I said, deciding that I didn't want him to think I was stupid. "Though I could get paid and leveled up faster by getting into bigger fights, I figured building my knowledge and stats would probably be smarter than just going guns blazing and getting myself killed right away. Especially since this game seems to be based off Sword Art Online, not just focusing on the kidnapping side of it, and I'm almost one-hundred percent sure that if you die here, you die out there."
"Mhm." Natsu didn't really seem interested in what I was talking about at all since he had the blankest look, I think I've ever seen. He really just seemed to be interested in the food.
'Okay, maybe not.'
"Well enough about me." I said really wanting to change the subject, not really wanting to be here anymore either. "So, you guys came here looking for someone?"
"Yeah, we're looking for Igneel." Happy said as he sat on the table.
"Yeah we caught word that there was a Salamander coming through this town, but it ended up being a different guy." Natsu explained.
"Salamander?" I questioned.
"Yeah, he's my Dad." Natsu said as it looked like he finally finished eating. "Well not quite, he was a firefighter and he adopted me. His nickname at the firehouse was Salamander cause he could withstand the heat for a lot longer than all the other guys. I don't actually know if he's in the game or not though, but I thought that it wouldn't hurt to search anyway."
"Why would he be in the game? Is he a gamer as well?" I asked and Natsu looked like he tried to say something, his mouth seemed to be trying to move but his voice just wouldn't come out. He tried for a couple of seconds to get his voice to work, but cleared his throat before taking a drink of water. he blinked a couple of times before shaking his head and clearing his throat again. "Are you okay?"
I looked around the restaurant looking to call a waitress over, I realized that a lot of the people around the place was staring at us. I thought it was because they were still wanting to watch the show that Natsu was putting on with his eating, but it felt different. Even all the servers were staring at us. A few people who were trying to talk or order from a server were talking but getting no response from their server. They were watching us.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just ate a little too fast I guess." Natsu said pulling my attention back to him and I couldn't help but flinch. It was so weird. "But it's hard to explain about my dad."
"Well, okay then." I said, not wanting to be here any longer with how intense the air just got in here. I went into my inventory and grabbed the money that was needed in order to pay the bill, before that number climbed any higher. I placed it on the end of the table, before trying to make it look like I wasn't trying to book it out of there. "You two enjoy your lunch, and maybe I'll see you around." Kind of hoping I didn't now.
"Thank you ma'am." Said a waitress at the door as I was about to walk out. I felt my chest flinch at the sudden nice smile that was on her face, when just a minute ago her eyes looked like they were ready to kill. She suddenly gasped looking behind me and I didn't know if I was ready for the worst.
I turned to see that both Natsu and Happy were both on their hands and knees bowing over to me repeatedly.
"What the hell are you guys doing?" I tried not to yell
"Thank you mistress for this opportunity to eat!" They both yelled at me. I looked around the restaurant to see that this time, everyone was looking at us. I could feel myself getting anxious and really started to panic. I didn't need to have attention on me like this.
"Would you guys stop it! You helped me out it was the least I could do." I told them, hoping they would at the very least get off the floor.
"But we didn't even try to help." Natsu said as he looked at Happy, and they continued to talk to each other as I took the chance to sneak out the door before anything else could happen.
Once I was outside, I took a deep breath and pulled my hood tighter around my head. I started walking in the direction of a park I had passed by earlier today before being placed under a love spell. It was quiet with no one around and it was exactly how I liked it. I reached into my inventory as I sat down at a bench and pulled out a magazine.
'The Sorcerer's Weekly'
It was basically the only form of news in the game besides word of mouth. It talked about a bunch of different wizards that were completing different challenges and missions in order to try and find a way out of the game if it was even possible. But what really took up the magazine's pages, was filled with stories about the Fairy Tail Guild. Every day there were new stories telling about something new that they did to cause a ruckus. And as much as they went against what I did in reality, it was an even bigger reason that I wanted to join.
"If only." I said to myself as I flipped through the pages. With me being valuable, I couldn't just join any old Guild that I felt like.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?"
