Layla turned to face them, her voice soft as she greeted Cassidy and Warren.

"Hey, Cassidy. Hello, Warren," she said.

Warren, clearly puzzled, was the first to speak up, breaking the awkward silence.

"Uhh," he began, scratching the back of his head. "Did we say or do anything last night that made you think this is alright?"

Layla chuckled awkwardly, her voice filled with amusement.

"You wouldn't believe what happened," she continued. "I was just about to ask Will to homecoming, and believe it or not, I ended up saying I was going with you and Cassidy instead."

Cassidy, who had just taken a mouthful of food, practically choked at Layla's words, prompting Warren to quickly pat her back in concern.

Warren chimed in, his tone firm but still dripping with mild irritation. "We don't recall any such plan," he stated, still holding the bottle that Cassidy had been drinking from.

Cassidy tried to regain her composure, wiping her mouth with a napkin before attempting to change the subject.

"Hey, Layla, you mentioned you did the history homework?" A voice asked casually, as a girl dressed in purple casually joined them at their exclusive table.

Cassidy quickly took a sip from her drink to wash down the food she had nearly choked on. She remembered the girl known as Magenta, who often stood her ground when the heroes tried to bother her.

Warren turned his attention to the newcomer and inquired, "What are you doing?"

To which Magenta replied without any emotion in her voice, "It's called sitting," and then turned her focus back to her history homework.

"No one sits here but me and Cassidy," Warren stated assertively.

Magenta simply responded with a dismissive "Mhm-hmm" before turning to face Cassidy, offering her hand.

"Hey, I'm Magenta, but you can just call me Maj," she introduced herself.

Cassidy smiled warmly in return. "Cassidy," she responded, and Warren rolled his eyes in annoyance, realizing he had no choice but to give up.

Layla shrugged awkwardly, following Magenta's lead and choosing to ignore the tension. She turned to Magenta and asked, "So, what did you get for number four?"

Cassidy reached over and gently touched Warren's arm, leaning in to speak to him quietly. "Why are you okay with this?" he inquired, his voice betraying his disbelief.

Cassidy shrugged and gave him a small smile. "What's the harm?", she whispered. "Besides, now that we're going to homecoming with Layla, we've got some other matters to discuss."

Warren grumbled in frustration. "And our plans to stay at home and watch movies is ruined."

Cassidy nodded reluctantly, acknowledging the change in plans. They both had felt a pang of pity for Layla when they had left work earlier.

Cassidy had initially joked that they'd help Layla with anything she needed, but this situation was definitely not what they had envisioned.

Warren let out a sigh, reluctantly accepting their current predicament. "Accepted defeat, so noble," Cassidy teased, elbowing him lightly in the side.

Ethan, a boy whom Cassidy had spoken to briefly when visiting the nurse's office, approached the table. "Are we eating at Warren and Cassidy's table now?" he asked, a hint of playfulness in his voice.

Warren, who had overheard the comment, couldn't help but chuckle bitterly as Ethan spoke, "I bet you feel real dangerous right now."

Warren was about to object, but before he could even say a word, Cassidy scooted closer to him, closing the small distance between them. He turned his attention to the male next to Cassidy.

Warren was about to address the situation, but suddenly, Ethan chimed in with a protective attitude. "Is this guy bothering you, Magenta?"

Zach, the male with the annoying habit of exclaiming "Zach Attack" in the halls, made a move to sit next to Cassidy.

However, Warren quickly intervened, wrapping his arms protectively around her and steering her away, preventing any proximity between the two.

Warren's expression was stern as he shot a warning glare at Zach. "Hey, try the other way around," he said firmly, "and can you not just sit next to her?"

Warren's voice was tinged with anger as he asked, "Does anyone else need a date for homecoming?"

When Ethan jokingly raised his hand in response to the question, which was meant to be sarcastic, Layla suddenly burst out laughing, catching everyone off guard.

"Warren, you are so crazy!" Layla exclaimed, giving his arm a playful slap. However, as Cassidy and Warren continued to stare at her, she suddenly felt embarrassed and averted her eyes.

"Please, I promise," Layla pleaded. "I'll make this as painless as possible. I'll just be a casual third wheel with you two."

Warren nodded his head in understanding. "You're doing this for Stronghold," he stated, referring to Will, whom Layla was clearly trying to impress.

Layla nodded in agreement, and Warren glanced at Cassidy, both wearing matching smirks.

"Yeah," Warren confirmed.

Cassidy wore a look that seemed to say, "This isn't a good idea, but I'll go with it."

In unison, they replied, "Then, we're in."
