My heart was beating faster than ever, I was running out of oxygen so fast I was about to pass out but I need to endure. My mum is about to win them over..... WHERE IS SHE!, The British man said, she has gone back Lagos to live with her uncle, My mother replied, I don't believe you... This girl is somewhere, I want her out of London as soon as possible,The man said... Nina, Nina, Nina wake up! My mom screamed in fear, finally I was able to breathe, My mother burst into tears of joy.. Thank god, OK Nina come out now they are gone, my mom said(Nina crawls out of the wardrobe)
My name is Nina Akitoye I live in London I grew up here with my mother and my brother, my father died a few days after my brother was born, my father was a black man from Nigeria, while my mom is a white woman from Liverpool. We moved to London after my father died. The man that was in my house now were British officials that do not support the Idea of a black british citizen,His name is Mr English, my mother's name is Mary and my brother's name is Kevin. Spring 1944 that was the year I turned 18, children like me are called black hair bastards or The English problems, because our British nationality automatically came through our white mothers Even though our fathers where african and often absent there were so few of us that in my entire 18 years I have never seen a soul like me.... Happy birthday sweetheart, said an old lady,Thank you madam.. Nina said..... Mr English wanted to deal with us specially without Britain knowing, so though we had our freedom still we had to be guarded, especially when MI5 started to visit us in this time, it wasn't that I had not known I was different, it was that as I reached 18 I started to feel it, that was the year I realised I was truly different... Why are we going to Oxford, my brother said... To be invisible, stop talking Kevin read your book, my mother said.. I have my drawing book but no pencil, my brother said.. You want a pencil I think I might be able to help you little man, the train conductor said.. (He hands him a pencil)... Thank you,My mother said.. Your papers please, The conductor said.. Oh of course i have all her papers, take it... (he checks the papers) Nina, he said... Yes.. I replied(he hands the paper back to my mother).we entered an apartment were we saw my uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs Simons,on my way I met a boy, a boy the most handsome boy I have ever seen.. After sometime my mom was trying to help me to stand up and the boy was constantly apologizing , unfortunately it took me a minute to find out that he ran over me with his bike I looked at him and saw a name tag his name was Austin....
