"That's the plan." Dabi finally finished explaining to the group of villains what his plan was to kidnap a child named Katsuki Bakugo. I stood on the edge of the cliff overlooking the woods, pondering if jumping would be the best option for me at this point. The sound of people's frightened screams echoed throughout the forest and in that moment I wanted nothing more than to tell everyone below us what was to come of tonight, but I couldn't. Looking up towards the stars my chest began to tighten with regret, anger and despair. I could just take one step forward and I won't have to suffer with the consequences of tonight. My family would be safe and I'd be... free. I felt my body subconsciously leaning forward, until I felt a firm hand on my left shoulder. Knowing who it was, I only closed my eyelids waiting for him to scold me for my actions.
"Jumping would be easier, wouldn't it?" His voice was soft, like if he said the wrong words I'd break like a thin sheet of glass. I slightly turned my head to the side, but instead of seeing anger, Dabi showed me a look of worry. His frown tugged at the staples holding his two toned skin together and his eyebrows scrunched towards the middle of his forehead. I was astonished to see him like this, but I didn't question why he was worried about my choices.
"Think about the people who care about you before you make a stupid ass decision like that." I knew he was right, I didn't dare try to make it seem like I wasn't being selfish just now. I was only thinking about what would benefit me and not the others around me. His hand slowly moved from my shoulder to the middle of my back, his touch was slow and gentle; it felt like a different person caressing me in a careful manner. He knew I opposed this plan to kidnap a child, he knew this was my first time even being in battle, even with the little time we spent together he knew what kind of person I was.
"I won't make you fight. You'll only get in the way because you're so goddamn conflicted. Just stay next to me and you'll be fine." He lowly spoke as if it was only meant for him and I to hear, relief instantly filled me.
"Thank you... Dabi." He let out a deep sigh and removed his hand from the middle of my back, leaving me with a sense of conflicted longing. I didn't move from my spot at the edge of the cliff, I only watched and waited for Dabi's next command.
"Alright everyone is here. Let's go." With that the group dispersed into a few different teams, and only me, Twice, Dabi and the one Nomu were left on top of the cliff. Dabi leisurely strutted down the mountain leaving the rest of us to meekly follow our leader. We walked a few yards until Dabi halted and ignited his hands with his azure flames. He stretched out both arms beside him allowing his fingers to scrape two trees, the flames immediately consumed the trees. It was amazing how fast the flames spread to the other trees around them, the flames seemed to somewhat dance in the night sky. So beautiful and yet so dangerous. When I turned back towards Dabi, he was already giving the Nomu his orders. I cut my eyes to the ground as guilt consumed me once again. I only wished that I could do something to help the children here.
"Twice. Make a duplicate of me." My eyes darted back over to Dabi, I took notice that the Nomu was already gone.
"I'm not a copier! Will do!" Twice gave him a thumbs up and began measuring the ravonette body structure and even his shoe size.
"You know what they say about men with big feet?" Twice jokingly peered up at Dabi, who only narrowed his eyes at him.
"Shut it, Deadpool on meth."
"I was only gonna say they wear big socks! Get your mind out the gutter, you dirty little hoe!" Once Twice decided not to bicker with Dabi anymore, a second Dabi appeared from a brown sludge. I had drowned out the conversation between the three, leaving me to reflect on how I'm useless in this situation. I can't do anything... I want to help the innocent children, but also... I have friends within the group too. Maybe... Just maybe I can warn them in time so everyone will be saf- A hot rough hand suddenly gripped my forearm and spun me around where I came face to face with the producer of the flames.
