It's been a couple days since the battle at Kamino, and the atmosphere within the group is quite... unstable. I've mostly kept to myself besides speaking with Compress a few times. Other than that, I've been a reticent body within the group.
Dabi is the same way as I am. He hasn't spoken to me since Kamino; he hasn't even looked over in my direction. To be frank, it's upsetting not being able to converse with him. His behavior is strange, and I can't seem to understand why he is acting this way.
Another thing about Dabi is that he's never around. I notice how he will slip away and be gone for hours without letting anyone know about his whereabouts. I'm not saying he can't handle himself, but I'm curious to where to scurries off to.
As of right now, the League doesn't have a set "hideout", we just jump from place to place making sure not to stay in one place too long. We are hunkered down in some tiny decrepit apartment that looks as though no one has lived here in fifty years. There is no power, running water or even beds to sleep in. Don't even get me started on the smell in this pl-
"Lost in thought, my dear?" Compress asks as he takes a sit next to me on the dirty floor.
"Nah, just reminiscing on past events." I bring my knees upwards and softly hug them. I hear Compress hum with acknowledgement and we create a subtle silence between us. A few minutes pass by until I see Dabi stuff his hands in his jacket pocket and exit the frail building.
"He seems rather occupied the past few days." Compress points out the obvious, wanting to know my thoughts on his nightly adventures.
"Yep. Same time every night." I said glancing over at Atsuhiro's watch. 9:35 p.m. on the dot. Every single night. Where in the world is he going?
"Instead of waiting around for him to tell you, why don't you go find out yourself?" Compress commented looking over at me with a straight-laced expression.
"Like spy on him?"
"Exactly what I mean." Compress, you clearly don't know who we are talking about here.
"I'd rather keep the skin on my body and not have it melted off."
"That's only if he catches you, my dear." Compress had his mask off so I was able to see the smirk playing on his lips. Don't get me wrong, I wanna know where he's going... but, he also has a right to his own privacy. Then again, I really want to know. I'm not the only one that's curious either.
"I've never spied on anyone before. So I'll definitely get caught, knowing Dabi."
"Do as you please, Mirea. I just thought a little encouragement might push you towards curiosity." Once again, silence settled between the two of us. Neither one of us wanting to say anything more since everything was already out on the table.
I tapped my fingers on the sides of my legs and lightly chewed on my bottom lip. I felt anxious because I wanted to discover Dabi's whereabouts, but was afraid on how I would do so. Screw it... Huffing loudly I pushed myself off the ground, brushing the dirt from my pants.
"Where are you off to?" I could hear the mockery eloping Compress's tone as I walked towards the door.
"Out."
"Ah, well safe travels, my dear. Please do be careful, I would rather you come back alive and breathing. And not as a pile of ashes fluttering in the wind because of ludicrous tactics." I like Compress, but he sure is manipulative. He knows how to stir feelings within a person and sometimes that's more dangerous than physical strength.
"One more thing." Compress stated making my head turn to the side to gaze down at him. "He usually takes a right when he leaves here."
I nodded my head once shutting the door behind me and began walking down the sidewalk barely lit by street lamps. I'm stupid. I don't even know where he's going, so how could I possibly track him. I kept my footsteps steady and soft trying to keep them as quiet as possible.
