Chapter 3

I woke up at 7 the following morning and started getting ready for work I showered got dressed did a light make up and went to the kitchen make myself some coffee,lacey called and ask me to pick her up because she wasn't driving,I knew all she wanted to do is interrogate me about last night and this was a plan to get me in the hot seat.

I pulled up at lacey's apartment she was already out by the front waiting

"good morning" she said as she entered "good morning" I answered and drove off still waiting for her to start the Q and A session.

"So how was lastnite?"she asked,at last it has started "fine" I answered

"just fine huh,so what happened?" she continued

"He thanked me for a great evening and we said Good night" I answerd wearily "just that? no exchange of numbers or a date offer?" she questioned "well no lacey he was just a friend for the evening,thats all" I replied "ok" she said sarcastically,

I gave her the watever look,we pulled up at the Phillips industries parking lot I parked and Lacey and I entered,I greeted the workers as I went straight to my office and got down to some work.

Finally I got down to my final task of  preparing some bank statements when clare she is the secretary entered my  "for you dear" she held a boquet of flowers and a small box "am sorry but you must have got the wrong person clare" I told her and conitued working "Harmony Janseen thats not your name?" She asked, I looked up I was deeply shocked "Who dropped these off?" I asked "some guy he looked like a body guard or something" she answered, "ok thank you,clare please place them over there" I got up from around my desk and looked at the card attaced to the flowers:
thank you for a wonderful evening my lady- A.S I read as I smiled Austin Scoff I said to myself

"Who's the lucky guy?" Clare asked,I even forgot she was still in the room "uummmm..no one" I lied "ok then" and she walked out. I moved on to the cute lil black box and opened it holy cow it was a shiny diamond bracelet ,what is he thinking I  can't accept this,this bracelet valued more than all my jewellery.

Lacey must have stepped in and saw my puzzled impression.

"Whats wrong?"  She asked "this" as I showed her the bracelet "oh my is this from him?" she asked "yes" I  replied "you must have been really great company" Lacey said I gave her the look again "maybe clare was right" I stated,even if she is right and he is who he is that does not give him the right to send me this,I felt like he was trying to buy me or something. " I am returning it" I said as I returned to my desk and attempt to continue my task but I kept thinking about the bracelet and whether it was just a thank you or more I also kept thinking about how charming he was.

On my way out I stopped at clare's desk asked her about Austin's company location she said that he has a law firm across the city a few mins drive from here,I thanked her.

I jumped in my car and off I went with the intention of returning the bracelet. I kept looking up at the buildings thats when I saw the towering sky scraper I looked at a sign that showed:
Scoffs Organistion Headquaters

I pulled into the parking lot,parked and entered the main door of the building I walked up to the blonde which appeared to be the secretary "Hello,Good afternoon,I am here to see Mr Scoffs please?" I said politely

"Do you have an appointment madam?" She asked "No I dont,but he is expecting me" I lied "ok miss come with me and lets see about that" she said as she directed me towards elevator,after a long ride up we finally stopped at the final floor "wait here please" she told me as she went through a door.I stood there looking around a very formal place it had the touch of an sucessful  organisation "Come this way please,Mr Scoffs is ready to meet with you"

The blonde returned and said.I entered his large scale office that had a enormous glass window overlooking the city "Hello Ms Janseen a pleasure seeing you once more" he smiled and said "Hello Mr Scoffs" I said nervously,he came up towards me and took my hand,my heart rate speeds "please come and sit"he instructed as he led me to a white leather sofa at one end of the office,I sat and he offered me a drink but I politely refused,he sat facing me "Mr Scoff-" I was cut off  "please do call me Austin after all you are a friend" he said as he smiled.

"Thank you for the gifts,they were lovely" I continued "what gift?" he asked "Am sorry but-" I was cut off once more "Am just kidding honey,did you like them?" he asked " Yes I did,very much but-" I replied "but?" he asked "The bracelet..thats the reason I am here,I cannot accept it" I answered "well I am not accepting it back either" he said as he smiled "The flowers were great and I had a wonderful evening aswell but I cant accept gifts of this sort from a-a-" I stammered as I remove the box from my bag and handed it to him,he smiled as he took it and place on the table beside him,how can he be smiling right now I thought.

"Well if you dont want to accept this,will you accept my offer out on a date?" He said smoothly,mann he's such an influence"ok I accept" I shyly replied

"pick you up tonight at 8 then" he stated "see you tonight then" I said as I rise and headed towards the door "watch your step honey" he shouted towards me as I exited,i turned and flashed him a a mischievous smile.
