(General POV)
Prince Marcus, or Mars as he preferred to be called, showed he was a unique kid early on. At six months not only could he talk well, but he could read and write well too! This impressed King Beast, Belle, and Ben a lot.
Prince Mars, however, also showed more troubling traits. He had his mother's eyes that would glow when he felt any intense emotion. And his grandpa's unhinged temper that set his hair sightly aflame with green fire. THAT worried Mal and Ben to no end.
Only one who could really understand Mars was Hades who lived on the Isle of the Found, formerly the Isle of the Lost. So, Mars often begged to go there. Mars had a hard time getting along with other kids his age, especially Charlie Charming. He had few friends, but he DID have some.
One was Carter De Vil. Carter was fascinated with magic just like his mom, Jane; and while he did love his Fairy Grandmother disagreed with her a lot. Carter was also interested in medicine and wanted to be a phsychiatrist. Probably inspired to help his Grandma Cruella who was on medication and therapy. He was patient with Mars and good at calming Mars when he lost his temper.
Mars' other friend was Troy Hook. Harry and Uma's son who's birthday was just before Mars' birthday. Troy was fearless and could turn into a half-octopus. Troy loved sailing his own skiff and wasn't afraid to play rough. He was a breath of fresh air to Mars. Troy lived on the Isle since his mom was the Isle's governor. He was Mars' BFF.
The other person who Mars considered a friend was almost suprising. It was Rosella Charming, Charlie Charming's younger sister. Rosella wasn't like her parents or brother. She took more after her grandmothers: Aurora and Cindrella. She loved singing, gardening, and ballet. What she didn't tell her parents was she also loved fencing. She took after her grandpa Philip and felt at ease holding a sword and shield. She shared this secret with Mars who had often let her hide in the rose gardens when her brother became too overbearing.
But besides those three, Mars really had no one else to play with. And something was troubling him lately. Ever since his fourth birthday he kept having dreams. Dreams of a land called the moors where different fey creatures lived. And they were led by a horned fairy queen who always had a raven at her side.
And lately both his back and head were hurting now that he was nearly six.
And on the eve of his sixth birthday Mars dreamed the most extraordinary dream yet. He was a horned fairy too! And he flew beside the fairy queen whom he called Fairy Grandmother!
