"What can I get you sir?" I asked the all too familiar guy in front of me spotting a black tee. I think I know him from school or somewhere.

"A nice cup of black coffee would be splendid", I didn't miss the disgust in his tone. Ignore, that's what I always do.

After scribbling the order I got down to getting his coffee.

With the guy's order in hand I made my way to his booth. As I was almost there someone placed their foot right in front of me causing me to trip and pour all the coffee onto the customer's shirt. And from the murderous glint in his eye I could tell the shirt wasn't cheap and he wasn't too happy about it.

"Where the hell is the effing manager?" He boomed from his seat as he rose to get a napkin. I awkwardly stood there too scared of moving.

I could hear snickers from behind me. And I drifted my attention to the guy who was the sole cause of all this drama. Chase freaking Monroe.

Before I could do anything I could already hear the manager's angry footsteps heading towards us. Is it too late to freaking die yet?

The short plump man with a permanent scowl towards me looked livid as he took in the customer's stained shirt. I sighed knowing I wouldn't even get the chance to explain myself.

"I'm sorry sir," Gilbert apologized to the customer as his face softened. Wow he can smile. This was quite rare. He never smiled, well at least at me. Come to think of it nobody ever does. I couldn't even remember the last time anyone did smile at me.

"Is there anything I can do for you sir?"my boss asked with that smile stuck on his face. Chase looked at me, his eyes filled with fury as I tried not to squirm under his glare. "You could start by firing this incompetent employee!" His words didn't hurt me at all I was used to this. But I was angry, livid infact. How dare he say that. This job was all I had after what had happened. And it wasn't even my fault! Someone tripped me.

I wanted to yell. To tell them I didn't deserve to be fired it was just an accident. But I only stood there watching him go on about how bad I was at my job. No one even said anything on my side. I guess they're still not over it.

After a few minutes of being sweet talked by my dear boss, note the sarcasm, Chase finally calmed down and was given a new cup of coffee for free and a fifty dollar coupon. But he still kept throwing daggers at me.

"Millie, my office now!" Of course how could I forget my pending doom. Knowing I wouldn't get anything out in this conversation I just followed him meekly.

"What is wrong with you?!" He shouted. You could tell he was seething with anger as his face was contorted in a constipated look with his nose flaring. I had never seen him this angry before. I guess this was his last straw.

"I'm sorry. It was an accident. I swear."

"I'm done trying Millie. I'm done. Just get your things and leave." My boss said with a look of defeat on his face. He wasn't angry anymore I could tell. His features had softened and the shade of pink that was on his face was slowly fading.

"But I-. Please," I didn't want to leave. This was the only thing I had.

He sat in his desk void of emotion as he simply dismissed me out of his office. Chase freaking Monroe. That bastard. I stomped out of Gilbert's office with one thing in my mind. That bastard is going to pay.

"You son of a-" I shrieked immediately my eyes landed on Chase who was still in his booth. I could tell all eyes were on me as I made my way towards him. My stare not wavering. For a brief second I swear I saw fear in his eyes before he masked it with a smug look and an oh so sickening smirk. I had a mission as I continued making my way towards Chase. I had nothing to lose anymore, I just got fired and it was all because of that idiot.

"Woah woah woah pumpkin, take it easy," Chase mockingly said.

"Take it easy?" I echoed furiously throwing daggers at that 6ft son of a potato. I had so much to say. I wanted to yell. I wanted to scream and shout at the idiot, but I couldn't. I couldn't form a single sentence. So I just stood there, my hands balled up in fists. I wanted to punch that smug look off of his face but that would only make my life worse.

So I did the last thing anyone in my situation would do. I walked up to him so the only thing separating us was a sliver of air. Without thinking twice I tiptoed and placed my lips onto his. For a split second he froze but started easing to it. He didn't resist he just went along with it. I could hear audible gasps from his friends as we pulled away.

Not wanting to cause any more attention (who am I kidding), I made my way to the back where the employees kept their stuff. As I stuffed my few belongings in my bag I couldn't help but grimacing as I remembered how I made a fool out myself.

I kissed effing Chase Monroe. What the hell was I thinking? No I wasn't even thinking. What is wrong with me? Aaargh.

This is all a nightmare. Nothing but a freaking nightmare, I tried reassuring myself as I placed my novel on the nightstand. I was home. If youd call a small apartment the size of a pantry home, but thats all I could afford at the moment. I had nothing left after the incidence and now that I was jobless there was a high chance that Id lose my so called home.

I wanted to forget everything that occurred at work but not even the Stephen King novel could distract me. My mind kept on wandering back to the kiss. The kiss between Chase and I and all I could think of was how his stupid breath tasted like coffee with a hint of mint. How his stupid lips felt on mine and how I enjoyed every second of that damn kiss. Damn you Chase. I was mad at myself for feeling that way and as hard as I tried all I could see was his piercing blue eyes every time I closed my eyes. This is going to be a really long night, I muttered to myself as I snuggled in bed.
