      The world is known for its cruelty, the suffering insured by the circle of life. The hardships of survival at the brink of all human civilization would play a toll on every soul, should it experience it.

      The fight for food, the struggle for shelter, the fear of being hunted. The gnawing pain of starvation, the withering cold of the wilderness, the pain of knowing what you should do, what you have to do.

      Immortality is a scary thing, a torturous thing, or at least the concept of it. The scariest part of living forever is knowing that no matter what you do you will always outlive your problems, as well as your greatest treasures.

      Your years of torment knowing that there will be no end has left their mark on your body, the scars of a hard night, or a backstabbing friend.

      3000 BC, that's the earliest in which you could remember, watching the regular humans evolve, learning with them, whilst they start to flourish in the first marks of civilization.

      Through the times you stayed fairly stagnant. And as time went on, following the nomadic roots that you have set for yourself became a regular occurrence.

      Your - gifts as the times called them, were unique and godly in a way. Though it seemed more of a curse to you.
      The ability to manifest yourself, in ways unimaginable to most, came with many ups and downs. When you lived amongst the regular humans they knew nothing major of what you could do.

      Your origins had always been mysterious in nature with your sudden appearance near a human settlement casting shadows on the truth. The people who took you in were nice, and they cared for you like their own until their unfortunate death, causing your own madness. In the end, the village you grew up in totally unaware of your 'gifts' ended in a bath of blood and corpses strewn around.

      Your path of self-discovery begun the day after you bathed the small settlement in blood. Artemis appeared soon after, claiming to have been dormant up until that point. You continued through instinct and will (though tested often by depression) alone.

      You have been carrying on ever since.

~~~
      The time was somewhere around 500 AD though it was hard to tell as you mainly kept to yourself, isolated in the thick woods far away from anyone but yourself.
      'Poor, poor (y/n), so worthless, so unloved... So, useless,' a voice crooned mockingly in your head, the voice of your inner demon, Artemis.
      Dark clouds covered the sky in a blanket of gloom, the rain pouring heavily into the soil of the earth as you took shelter under a large dark oak, shivering and clutching your head in hopes of silencing your mind.
      The voice chuckled, 'So sad, so tired, so... Needy. Do you feel that? You hungry, you beast?' She cackled, 'Such a waste of space, breath. You should die- or perhaps someone should do so for you~' Artemis cooed.
      You started to salivate as a familiar sensation flooded your senses, the need for blood- regardless of where it came from. You clawed desperately at your head, hot tears streaming down your face as you prayed to gods you had no faith too. Artemis continued her ruthless berate and whispers of death, slowly coaxing you from your tense crouched position underneath the tree you took shelter within.
      With labored breath you crawled from the roots, your fingers digging into the soft earth. The rain hit your skin like a drum as you crawled into the clearing, screaming as you reached the middle, throwing your head back as you snarled.
      Lightning flashed overhead, begging to meet with to soggy earth. You stretched your arms out accepting the rain falling upon your skin.
      'We needed a bath anyway~' Artemis chided through her continuous whispers of death.
      You slumped against the earth, the mud pressing your hair against your face as you gave up resisting. The feeling of euphoria that you would receive as you ruthlessly killed at will was intoxicating and you had no idea why you kept fighting it for so long. Perhaps it was the fact that Artemis would hurt you in the beginning, for you knew that you had no remorse nor regrets for the atrocities that you committed.
      You took a deep breath and smiled as you let out a deep chuckle, all you could think about was blood. The metallic scent, the delicate taste, the texture as it ran through your fingers, or slid down your throat, you were hooked. You were hooked and you needed it now.
      You lurched painfully arching your back as your bones began to quickly rearrange themselves. You could feel the scales as they appeared, smooth and new under the constant rain. You felt your body expand and grow, elongating and stretching as your back ripped open to make way for your wings, your spine extending to form a tail. No matter how many times you had shifted, there was always a factor of pain.
      You let out a roar as you felt your scales thicken and strengthen as to show that the process was completed. You stretched your wing up and out, flexing your neck you smirked the best a(n) (f/c) dragon could. And with that you took to the skies, your fun was about to begin.
Hello and welcome to the first chapter of the Eyes of Love rewrite. You might notice that in the original fanfic this chapter was originally the preview. I have decided that I don't want that and just went ahead and made it a chapter, I added quite a bit more detail that explains your character better than seen in the original.
I have decided to go against what I said in the notice and just publish the chapters as I go in hopes of maintaining high motivation.
Hopefully, this version will turn out better than the original, and that there aren't as many typos and such, as I find it hard to read the older chapters due to the horrible spelling of 2015 me.
It's weird to think that this story has been going on for basically five years and I don't really plan to stop.
Hopefully, you can all forgive me for dropping the original in favor of making a more improved version in the rewrite, as I will only be posting this once I have caught up with all of the chapters that I have made for the original.
Some of you may notice that I go by a different name now, and that is solely the fact that I have figured myself out a bit more, and am presenting as such. Comments and suggested changes to the story are appreciated as well as any form of motivation!
Anyway, have a nice day and enjoy
~ Moss out!🌙
