Characters:my friends , the girl I like/love

Language: English

There's this girl. Super smart, way into Harry Potter, beautiful beyond humanity, an amazing actress, really funny and my uber amazing crush. The first time I saw her, I think I blushed. But I still have her number and I sent this post to her. I hope she sees it. So, this is my way of telling the girl I like, that I like her and maybe asking her out? If she'll have me of course.

Thalia blushed furiously at her phone as she processed the words on her screen. Her crush on Fleur had started at a week-long acting camp the summer before. They had connected over a love of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Avengers, which was still something they loved to delve into. A few weeks before, Thalia had even affectionately, though eccentrically, nicknamed Fleur in her contacts as "Little Miss You-can't-adopt-dust!" after a debate about the ending of "Avengers: Infinity War" in which Thalia had vowed to adopt and protect Peter Parker with her life against Fleur's protests. It was these emphatic debates and laughter-riddled conversations that had left the each of the pair preoccupied with thoughts of the other.

Thalia didn't even stop to think before replying.

Thank you so much for this. I may have slightly cried at how beautiful this was when I read it. I really hope you know that this means the world to me. And that I'd love to go on that date with you. x

For the next few weeks, the two were entwined in each other's texts. They checked in at least once a day and Thalia even joined a group chat with some of Fleurs friends. The pair only seemed to grow closer with every day. They had fun together, their text conversations riddled with Harry Potter and science puns that quickly became the basis for hours of flirting.

They met for their first official date in the middle of town during the Christmas market and spent the first half-hour wandering around under the twinkling lights, looking at stalls full of warm baked goods and handcrafted decorations. Thalia greeted her by the town monument with a bouquet of flowers clutched nervously in her hands. However, the nerves quickly drained away as she passed them to Fleur, who blushed crimson and thanked her with a shy smile.

Unfortunately, they encountered Fleur's eight-year-old cousin and his dad not long after. He was a small blonde boy busking on the pavements and getting an approving stream of change from passers-by. The girls didn't stay to chat for long due to the awkward fact that her family were quite "traditional" and wouldn't have approved of their daughter being with another girl as more than a friend, so the two acted as nothing more than friends until they were safely out of his sight.

Shaking off the near disaster and sharing a fortifying smile, they made their way up to the Harry Potter shops to browse. When they tired of admiring model time-turners and Deathly Hallows, they continued onwards to get bubble tea. With a bit of well-placed distraction, Fleur managed to pay for both despite Thalia's protests. After buying the drinks, Fleur pulled a small box of Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit cards from her bag. They played to the best out of three: Thalia won two to one. She couldn't let Fleur outsmart her twice now could she?

As they made their way around the town linked arm in arm, Thalia couldn't help but notice how Fleur looked adorable in her leather jacket; her round glasses perched gently on the tip of her nose. Strolling leisurely, they made their way over to the cinema to watch the new Grinch film with Benedict Cumberbatch. Before they went in, Thalia managed to persuade Fleur to let her buy them both some ice cream. Despite it scraping the bottom of Thalia's bank balance, she knew it was worth it once she saw the cute blush that rose on Fleur's cheeks. The film was alright - it was entertaining enough to them both, but Thalia enjoyed watching Fleur's smile more than the film itself.

They reluctantly agreed to begin the journey home after they left the cinema as the sun had set and most of the light remaining was from the Christmas lights trailing from lampposts and rooftops. It wasn't quite night-time, but it was late enough into the evening of a Saturday that the pubs and bars were lively with people that would soon be spilling onto the streets. Thalia walked Fleur to the bus stop, enjoying the little time they had left of the evening. Before they said goodbye, Fleur suggested taking a selfie to remember the night. Being shorter than Fleur - even in heeled boots - they had to take a few shots before they found the right level and angle, with one ending up with arms wrapped around the other, to both of their thinly-veiled delights.

Fleur had accidentally left the bouquet in the cinema. She couldn't help the disappointment once she realised but she was also somewhat resigned as she knew that she had to leave them behind somewhere as her family would've questioned who they came from and the answer wasn't one she could ever give.
