"Excuse me?" He said, his deep voice dropping to new lows. He stalked toward the woman in red leaning against a tall oak bookcase. She stiffened.
"It's not yours, It my body, and I'll decide what to do with it." She said not looking at him. She clenched her thighs to stop her knees from shaking.
"That is my son or daughter inside of you and I have no say in the manner." His voice was ice cold as he put a finger to her chin turning her face to his. He stared into her eyes. The intimidation had faded away and the longing she saw in his eyes took her breath away.
He was the most dangerous man she had ever met. The thought of him being the father of her first born child terrified her. Was he just putting on another mask to get his way or was this the real him? She thought searching his gaze. She shook her head pulling her chin from his grasp; heading for the door.
"You have a right to know; not to decide." She said as she turned the handle. It jerked halfway, she turned back with incredulity, her lip curling into a snarl. "Open this door right now." She growled.
He leaned against his desk and waggling a clicker in his hands. "Automatic locks, sweetheart. Now tell me... why would you give up the safety I can provide to you and our child?" He said flipping the clicker into the air and catching it smoothly.
"You mean a cage." She said her voice flat as she raised an eyebrow at him. She gestured towards the door, "This is kidnapping, you know." She said. He didn't rise to the bait. As the silence stretched her fingers started to drum against her leg. His eyes zeroed in on her fingers, a slow smirk sliding onto his face. She hated that smirk. How could such a devilish man be this sexy.  He slowly rose from the desk striding towards her, "Kidnapping is very low on the list of things I've done. If you think I'm going to let you walk away unprotected with our child, you're crazier than I thought." He finished towering over her, the smirk ever present. Anger flared through her. Before she could stop it her hand rose to smack that smirk of his face. It stopped midway in his grasp, he smirk grew feral as he twisted her hand behind her back and gently wrapped his other arm around her waist. He nibbled the tip of her ear making her gasp. "As feisty as ever, mi corazon." He growled. She strained against his hold but his arms were like steel. She huffed, "Let me go." She said.
"Not a chance." he replied sweeping her legs and carrying her to the couch. He sat with her nestle in his lap. She lunged forward but he pulled her back, his arm encircling her waist. He was a tall man with broad shoulders. His arms ripples with muscle as he wrapped his arms around her making her feel small, but safe. For how dangerous he was, when they'd been together. He had never laid a hand on her, never hit her. "Why fight this?" He asked. "I will not have my child grow up with a father that has this type of business." She said relaxing into him. The door was locked, might as well get comfy till the right time to escape arises. She thought. He started to play with her hair, curling it around his finger. He knew how much she liked it. He didn't say anything for a time. "The laws that govern society are not god. The civilized wealthy who live lives inside guarded mansions are ignorant to the pain infecting this city. They've never seen a starving child. They turn a blind eye to the sorrows of the world. my business may be illegal but it puts food on not only my table but other families in need." He picked her up, turning her so she straddled his waist. He cupped her face as he said. "What I do does not define who I am. I would protect you and this child with all that I have. You know this. Let me take care of you." He said his word like silk. She leaned into his rough warm hands, clasping the one hand with both of her own. "I can not be caged by you Damien." She said.
"My estate is too large to be considered a cage." He huffed out. They gaze at each other for a moment before she leaped off his lap running towards the desk and grabbing the clicker. Damien was right behind her but she spun with the clicker hitting the button and running for the door. She could feel him right behind her as she race down the hallway. "Stop." He yelled. She didn't listen, cutting a corner and racing down the white marble stairs and through the entryway. Her shoes crunched on the gravel and it kicked up behind her. She saw her reflection in the window. The reflection showed Damien right over her shoulder; his arm outstretched. She jerked to the right causing him to stumble forward but he recovered leaping between her and the car. "Please Stop...you shouldn't over exert yourself." He said his eyes wide, hands splayed in front of him as if approaching a wild animal. She had never seen the cool collected Damien panick before. It made her pause. " I'm only in my third week." She said, his arms fell as he noticed her perplexed expression. He grunted, adjusting his tie, and straightened "You can't be too careful." He said gruffly. He stood between her and the drivers seat. He let out a breathe. " Give me a chance, mi Corazon. At least let me take care of you while your pregnant. Once you have the baby you can decide if you want to leave me." Damien said. She raised an eyebrow in disbelief. " You would never let me go." She said. He raked a hand through his hair. " If it gives me nine months to make you mine, I'll take that risk."He said stepping closer to her. She stepped back and looked at the gates behind him. She could just run for it now. But, knowing him he would have his men case her to the ends of the earth to bring her back every time. This deal could be her only chance at escape. While short, within the time she had know him Damien had never broken his word. "You give me your world that onceI deliver this baby I will decide if I will be caged or freed?" She asked.
He signed, "Nine Acres is not a...." Damien started but she interrupted, "Damien, your word." He paused, his look calculating as he said, "You have my word, but until you deliver you are mine." She nodded. She smiled, thinking of her freedom, just nine months with the Devil. "...and you will listen to what I say." He said. She smirked, turning back to the mansion, " Not a chance." She said.
