The soft sunlight was creeping through your window and onto your face awaking you from your slumber. Your muscles felt stiff and you could see bruises that had formed from last nights mission. It was your first mission as well as your first solo mission and you had been nervous. Fury had assured you the mission would be easy. It was supposed to be simple take down the bad guys trying to rob a bank everything was going perfectly until you got shot in the shoulder by one of the robbers. You looked down and were able to ignore the pain and take down the bad guys. You had skipped going to the medics and went straight to your room, when you finally got their you were so exhausted you collapsed the second you hit the bed.

The next morning you woke up to Friday announcing that their would be a team meeting in the conference room. You looked over at  your alarm clock and realised it was just after lunch. You wanted to stay in your warm bed but knew someone would most likely come down and get you and knowing the rest of the avengers they'd probably make Steve do it. You climbed out of bed and put on some comfy clothes you had thought about staying in your pyjamas but decided against it. You started making your way to the conference room and slowly opened the door to be meet with the rest of the avengers. You grumbled out a good morning and waited for the meeting to start. Steve cleared his throat and looked towards the rest of his team "Our mission is to infiltrate a possible hydra base and steal government documents. We need every agent for this mission and will be leaving in five so suit up" you got up and we're heading towards the door when Steve stopped you. "You're not coming on this mission" he said you turned to glare at him and asked him why "you're not ready yet" you scoffed at him "Steve I was on a mission last night, I'll be fine" you took your first step out the door when Steve slammed you into the wall "you're not coming that's an order" you struggled to get out of his hold but realised it was no use  "fine I want go obviously you don't trust me enough" "it's not that it's just...I never mind" he said leaving you alone in the corridor.

You were in your room bored when you spotted your new suit hanging up in your closet. It was different  from your villain look your villain suit was black with gold trim while your new outfit was white with gold trim. You reached out and grabbed your villain suit which had been hastily chucked in the cupboard. You imagined the thrill of the night and the adrenaline you'd feel when you wore this suit but you couldn't wear it you were an avenger now. Unless what if you didn't get caught then no one would know. You hesitated before slipping it on appreciating how it looked on you before slipping through the window.

You appreciated being in the busy New York streets. The city loves you in ways no person ever has. It listens to your fierce footsteps, the clicking of your polished heels against it's dirty pavements early on a Monday night. It sees you smile ear to ear when You see the windows on it's skyscrapers reflect the orange glow of the afternoon sun. It empathises with your frustrated groan long past midnight when you can't flag down a taxi to take you home. It hears your satisfied sigh in winter as the first sip of a morning coffee warms your throat and thaws your freezing hands. It celebrates with you when your on top of the world and cries for you when life gets hard. The city sees and hears and feels every moment of every day of your life . The city understands. Unlike him the boy you'd never understand. You looked down at your soulmate mark and scoffed the universe had made a mistake. A gorgeous blonde hair blue eyed mistake. His eyes were the ocean, so full of life yet so uncertain. The blue-green hue carried his emotional currents, and before I could breathe I was drown.

You sighed looking across the street at your next target an office owned by the most powerful mafia in New York. This is going to be easy you thought to yourself before slipping into the shadows. What you didn't know was in that same building stood Steve ready to get the documents required for his mission and leave. You walked around the house like it was your own castle, cherry picking the most saleable items. You weren't in much of a hurry, haste lead to mistakes and you weren't  in the mood for languishing at Her Majesty's pleasure. Your gun lay against your black clothing, loaded, safety off. You heard a door creak and hid behind a desk their  footsteps creaking closer to you. You took the safety off your gun and got ready to fire, the footsteps stopped and you jumped out aiming the gun at the person "y/n" crap you thought looking into those ocean blue eyes. Standing in front of you was Steve and you knew you were in trouble.
