Charlene, Maybeck, and Jess patrolled through Adventureland at the Disneyland Resort. It was a hot night, the kind of night where you could sit outside and stare at the stars in shorts and a T-Shirt(A normal California night). It was quiet and tranquil; all the birds had fallen asleep and the characters were going about their business as usual. All seemed right in the park.
"It's lovely out tonight," Charlene said to Maybeck grabbing his arm.
"It's times like this where I love what we do the most" he replied
"Hey Maybeck"
"Yeah Charlie"
"I love you"
Maybeck's heart beat fast. He had never been this close to anyone before becoming a keeper. He was a loner, or at least that's what he used to think, but now he wasn't so sure. Being an artist, African- American, and living with his Aunt Jelly; he always thought the world was against him. However, in the keepers, he had a family.
"I love you too"
"Get a room you two!" Jess yelled from behind them.
"Don't be jealous Jess you'll find someone eventually," Charlene said putting her arm around her.
" Yeah, yeah easy for you to say. You have Maybeck, Willa has Philby, and Mandy has Finn."
"Just relax girly you'll be fine" Maybeck smirked.
As they continued past the Jungle Cruise a long shadow darted out from the bushes and down the cue for Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
"What...was...that?" Jess said hiding behind Charlene.
"I don't know, but we are about to find out" Maybeck announced
The team hooked a left and headed toward the temple. They moved quickly up the wooden ramp toward the archway entrance.
"Freeze" a voice boomed beside their heads.
The snake statue turned to face them creating the sounds of a rockslide in the process.
"Beware, Children of Light, I am the guardian of this temple. Upon your admittance to these ruins, I can no longer assist you so heed my warning."
The groups' heads all shook in unison.
"The enemies of light grow stronger, you must find one of the cursed three before its too late. Your comrades in the Magic Kingdom now face the same task as you. Completing this will bring you one step closer to victory." the voice boomed and cracked.
"One of the Cursed three?" Maybeck questioned, "the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"One more thing before you go." the snake hissed, "Do not look into the eyes of the idol."
The statue reformed, bringing with it the pieces that had shot out in different directions. Not long after the groups' confrontation, the statue lay still and unchanged. Ith faced forward, ready to meet the park's guests the next day. The three teens stood tall, collected their courage, and headed inside.
