My day started just like any other say. I woke up, showered, got dressed as quickly as possible to avoid my parents, and drove off to highschool. Every day, I usually skip breakfast--Which probably isn't healthy. The school I go to is this weird magical highschool. I don't know how else to explain it. There's these werewolf people, vampires, and even tiny people called fairies that flutter around with their tiny wings. I don't even know if there are other humans just like me. Kids around my age that are werewolves or vampires probably already found their 'mates' they call it. Meanwhile I'm here not knowing whos the right one for me, so as a human, there will be lots of mistakes in finding one. Unless they find me first if they're a werewolf or something.
"Will!" Someone down the hall shouted my name. I Ignored them and kept walking to my lunch table. Behind me I only heard the footsteps come closer. Then that turned into a hand on my shoulder and weight being up onto my back as they tried to catch their breath. "Oh my god Willow don't just ignore me." I heard them whine.
I turned my head and saw Alys resting their head on my shoulder. "Oh hey bud," I said, "Didn't see you there." I ruffled their short fluffy silver-colored dyed hair.
They only let out a small whine and gave me puppy eyes, "No you didn't but you heard me,"
"Sorry." I let out an awkward chuckle. This is my friend Alys. They're nonbinary and a werewolf.
"No lunch again?" Alys said wearily as they sat next to me with their lunch tray.
"No, I'm not hungry," I said while watching some pigeons walk around and snatch small pieces of french fries out of others' beaks.
"But you say that every day," Alys said while letting out a sigh. "Maybe that's why you're losing weight," they added while they nibbed on a fry.
"Uhm, well I'm just stressed, and stuff..." I trailed off, feeling a little bit hungry. "But trust me, when it's not school days I eat a lot."
Alys side-eyed me for a moment before saying "uh-huh" and throwing a fry at the pigeons. "How're the parents?" they asked.
I groaned slightly, a little annoyed with all their questions. "Crackheads, as usual," I said simply. Stealing a fry off of unsuspecting Alys try and nibbling on it.
With that, Alys frowned. They glanced down at their tray, their short hair covering their blazing red eyes. I knew they must be thinking hard. I anxiously nudged their shoulder softly, trying to get their attention. Do they care about me that much?
Alys glanced up at me, "I felt my mate pass by," They said excitedly, standing up from their seat and glancing around anxiously. Nope, nevermind.
"Oh really?" I said, trying to sound excited but it came out more exhausted and sarcastic. But of course, Alys didn't catch on.
"Yeah!" They exclaimed as they left the table without another word, following their mates' scent I suppose.
I sighed and sat there alone for the remaining five minutes of lunch. Once the bell rung I got up and start to walk away. But then behind me I heard something tip over. I turned around quickly and saw the ketchup bottle that was once on the table now onto the ground. A lot of people were passing by so one of them might have knocked it down form the table. I turned back around and walked into my next class.
Once I got home I gently opened the door and walked in, shutting the door behind me. I stood there for a solid thirty seconds, trying to listen and see if anyone was home. All clear. I start opening the fridge to see what there was to eat since I was starving. But then again, the only things available were spoiled milk and an old ugly wrinkly tomato. "Looks like I won't be eating anything today..." I said to myself while sitting on the couch next to my Lil friend, Po the Potato. Were both couch potatoes.
I reached out for the remote that was resting on the coffee table but as soon as I did, the T.V already turned on by itself. I yank my hand back in shock, feeling a bit scared. I glanced at the T.V screen, the channel was on some Korean commercial. I get up quickly, trying to ignore what just happened. I went up into my room and pulled out my drawing pad from my backpack. I look into my backpack, looking for a pencil. I scratched my head when I didn't find one. Weird. Usually, I have a lot in my small pocket but it isn't there. I glance at my desk and saw my jar filled with pencils.
I get up to grab one when it just tipped over, spilling out all the pencils onto the ground. All but one. I froze there, anxiety filling up in me. I glanced at the only pencil that was still on my desk, it was literally all back, with a red star in the middle. I pick it up and examine it at a closer range. I don't remember having this pencil. I decide to sit down on my bed and continue drawing which was a black widow. Once I was done I stared at my drawing with a bit of pride. I put the sketchbook away into my shelf but imminently yanked it back when I saw it sitting on the empty spot on my shelf. It was a black widow.
