god bless you, aurora germaine.

everyone was afraid of something—but that fear became a terrifying reality in derry, maine, the 27 year cycle came around again in 1988. the thing that came with the cycle would most in definitely strike fear in the nine children that had to face it, certainly that thing would cause night-terrors that would haunt them forever. but that would come later, now it had been a few minutes before the start of summer. the unforgettable summer of 1989, the soon-to-be nonet of losers had only been a quartet of stanley uris, william denbrough, richard tozier, and edward kaspbrak.
the four boys alone could not yet beat the devil.
aurora germaine stared out the window in her last class, as the teacher droned on about their summer writing project. the humid air clinging to every teen in the room, a small fan in the corner was pointless. teacher still continued to drone on and on as students began to fall asleep or even pass out.
aurora along with the other kids in the class were in desperate need of chucks, it was something richard and vivian tozier would say, it meant something along the lines of jokes or laughs. aurora didn't really talk to richie alot unless she was at the tozier household with vivian, richie's older sister.
they're in desperate need of some good richie and viv tozier chucks, aurora thought. maybe their blood would flow a little more from a few good chucks.
aurora was a good student naturally, she came from one of the 'good' families in derry on west broadway, but today she didn't really care much about what the teacher said, though she did hear her. they had to write about how their summer had been. aurora thought how her summer would go. herself and vivian tozier biking around derry together going tracker's diner and getting their scoops, maybe her grandmother would take them up to bangor for shopping or something. then, after the happy and sunny days of ice cream and laughter, aurora would find herself in her bedroom waiting for the light giggles of her siblings that never came home that one rainy day, they would never come and she knew that.
aurora stared out the window at the derry elementary buliding a bit farther down from the high school, where usually, in another ten minutes, the excited cheers of the younger germaine twins would begin as school let out for the summer and aurora walked to pick them up.
if only they didn't go outside.
just maybe if aurora and bill went out with them.

aurora walked through the halls, her books in her white backpack with small butterflies printed flatly on it. she had her headphones from her tape player on blocking out the sounds of loud teens and teachers. aurora started forward.
today was the last day of coming to that dump for three whole months. aurora was happy. no more waking up early, no more teachers yelling, no more grades, and no more for three months. she smiled, despite the killer heat and the small migraine she had, she smiled a big, genuine smile put on.
