”don't go”

A.j looked at Nika. In the pale moon light she had never looked more beautiful.” I promise i'll come back to you.” he brushed the silent tears from her cheeks. His fingers felt icy against her skin. Aj took one last look, memorizing her every feature he loved so much. As he turned away he heard her sob. He didn't dare turn to look at her, other wise he would never be able to make himself leave. Tears burned his eyes and every cell in his body wanted to go back. He had to muster every bit of his self control to keep walking. But he had no other option, he'd do it to save her.

Nika could barely stand up she was shaking uncontrollably from crying. She wanted to run after him, beg him to stay. As she watched his retreating back she felt her heart shatter. By now he had gone so far that Nika could only see the blade of his sword gleaming in the night. She tried to scream but no sound came, only her breath that turned to fog in the chilly air. Her legs couldn't hold her up anymore and she fell down. She wished that she could stop time, make it run backwards, bring him back. But once more she had to accept the fact that life wasn't fair and all she ever held dear would turn rotten.

Nika lied on the ground hugging her knees, powerless to move. She heard the wind carrying Ajs last words to her, slamming them in her ears. 'i promise i'll come back to you'....echoing inside her head, like torture. The humidity of the evening had now turned into soft snow. Cold snowflakes fell on her closed eyes, reminding her of Aj. She opened her burning eyes to see the sky. The darkness was being replaced by the quiet snow fall. There was no other sounds but her quiet sobs. No other souls in the night but her dying one.

The falling snow was beautiful and Nika was soon lulled into soothing images. She was taken back to the day she first met Aj. It had been not so long ago, no so far away. She remembered his jet black hair and silver eyes, his tall frame with broad shoulders. His beautiful smile that lightened his dark, menacing face. Aj was frightening, but Nika wasn't scared. Somewhere in those beautiful eyes that shone like the moon she had seen she could trust him.

She had been coming home late, on a night much similar than this. The park had been empty, only her walking through. The streetlights gave little illumination and the shadows were long. She had been lost in thought, not really aware of anything until she heard a blood chilling sound. It was like a big dog had growled, but more chilling, scarier. That was followed by grunting, mixed with a metallic cling. A loud cry ran in the air before the night turned deadly quiet once more.

The hair on the back of her neck stoop up. Nika didn't dare move, but was scared to stay in place. Also, she was little bit curious to know what had gone on. She had a feeling it was something important, something she couldn't miss. The noise had come from her left and she began sneaking in that direction, careful to not make the slightest sound. Her skin was on goosebumps and her fingers were trembling. Nika was usually cautious and didn't jump into situations without knowing what she was facing. Tonight it seemed like she wasn't in charge of her own actions. She came to the treeline surrounding the park and was grateful for the thick snow covering the ground. Otherwise she'd be making too much noise and Nika was sure that whoever was there wouldn't take a snooping 19 year old girl too well. She could now see a small clearing ahead and a shadow moving around. Too far to make out any details she crept closer, as close to the ground as possible.

Her legs were moving her on their own. She hadn't noticed how close to the scene she had end up until she was less than hundred yards away. She grouched behind a tree and tried to understand what she was seeing. A grey mass, like a charred human was laying in the middle of the clearing. Black, oily liquid painted the white snow all around and it was an image from her wildest nightmare.
