She is a social worker employed at Guardian, a haven for sexual and domestic abuse survivors that assists them in getting them in a stable home environment with employment and access to resources to aid in their holistic healing. Alexa has been friends with Eugenie, the Princess of York, since a very young age and remain quite close friends to this day. Upon Eugenie's engagement to her long time boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, Eugenie asks Alexa to become her maid of honour.

His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales, currently fourth in line to the British throne, is the lead male character in this story. The prince is serving in the British Armed Forces, going through flight training with the army to become an Apache pilot. He is Princess Eugenie's elder cousin.

Alice Turner is one of Alexa's many close friends and also her flatmate. She is a mix of South African and Swedish heritage, mainly presiding for most of her life in Sweden with her father. The two of them met at the University of Bath after she moved from Sweden and found themselves living in the same dorm building. One holiday, Alexa found out that Alice could not fly home to spend the holidays with her family and so Alexa took Alice back to her home for the weekend. Ever since then, the two of them have been close friends. Alice is a family law lawyer at a prestigious firm, Aikins and Block. She has been in a long distance relationship with her boyfriend, Jay for three years.
