*Trigger Warning*

I think I lost them!

I'm running from the police after I raided another Kook house for the 5th time in the past two days.

It's so much fun being this irresponsible and getting to do what I want. Perks of not having a good family.

Wassup, this is the Outer Banks, "Paradise on Earth," as they say. Yeah, well don't believe that shit. It ain't real.

I turn a corner and turn around for a second, find no one, then bump into someone and I end up on my back.

Looking up, I realize my luck isn't so great today. It's a police officer.

My mom's gonna kill me.

The police officer turns me over and handcuffs me, then hauls me to the police van, where they throw me(not so nicely) into the back of.

"What, you guys gonna kidnap me or something? Police really shouldn't be driving the creepy vans around."

The police officer just ignores me, going through my stuff, and pulling out all the things I stole.

"Why do you steal all these? To sell them for drug money?"

I shake my head.

"Listen, I'm just trying to fend for myself. No one over is going to notice anyways if I steal anything anyways."

The police officer finishes taking out everything that's stolen, then sets my bag next to me.

"It's not about that kid, we're just trying to teach you not to steal."

I glare at him.

"Do I care about responsibility? No."

The police officer just turns to the driver.

"Take her to her parents house."

I pale.

"WAIT! No, please don't take me there in this van."

The police take me there anyways.

15 MINUTES LATER.

"Thank you so much for bringing her back. I promise she won't do anything like that again."

I'm standing there, with my bag over my shoulder, rubbing my wrists.

I see something out of the corner of my eye, and turn to find a couple boys and girls staring at me. I flip them off then turn away, watching as the police leave, dreading what's about to come.

My mom shoves me into the house, yelling at my brother to get the ruler. My mom lives like she's ancient, what can I say.

My brother Adam comes back with the ruler, walking away hurriedly so he won't have to see what's about to come.

He's 2 years older, and also the only one in this family that cares about me.

My mom turns to me.

"Tell me why I have to keep doing this."

"You don't HAVE to keep doing this, you're just a horrible parent."

She whacks me super hard in the face with the ruler. I don't even flinch.

"No, you're just a horrible daughter."

I laugh.

She whacks me again, and I laugh harder.
