twenty nine

a week had passed since chase had last said to his friends about the idea of breaking up his three year old relationship with charli.

three years is a lot, but he was done with the relationship, they both knew it wasn't working and that it would come to an end eventually.

so after thinking how, where and when he would call it a day with his relationship, he was there, in front of her. both of them sitting in a little coffee place in town.

none of them had talked for minutes, they were just sitting there in silence.

"baby you're scaring me," charli said, she noticed chase seemed kinda off.

he stared at the floor. "charli..." he said, "i think it's been enough," he told her softly.

"what?" she answered confused, she brought her hand to his chin and raised it so he could look at her in the eye. "enough of what?"

"of this," he pulled away, didn't look at the floor anymore but wasn't making eye contact either. "our relationship,"

"is this some kind of joke? because if it is it's not-"

"charli i'm not in love with you anymore," he cut her off before she could continue.

she opened her mouth but closed it without saying anything. "what did i do?"

"you did nothing but it just wasn't working for me anymore, i'm sorry," chase explained.

tears were staring to form in her eyes as she spoke. "no there has to be something i can do, you can't break up with me chase i-" she stopped, her voice breaking at the end.

"i'm so sorry," he felt guilty, so selfish and guilty.

a few years escaped from her eyes but no sounds. "i'm gonna go," charli said barely above a whisper.

"i'm sorry-"

"it's fine," she grabbed her phone and with the back of her hand wiped the tears off of her rosy cheeks as she walked away from the table.

she just walked away biting her lip containing a sob from leaving her mouth as she left the place.

chase looked at his hands, he felt like a dick, like such a trashy person but he also couldn't help but feeling relieved.
