I saw it before it happened, the crash I mean. I was reading my book while sitting on a chair on my front porch. The wind was mild, tossing my brown hair softly from side to side, and the radio was on. I wasn't paying much attention but Mr. Seacrest was talking about the bullshit between Brad and Angelina. I could care less. I turned to page forty and suddenly the wind picked up and the radio went to static.
I heard the screech of breaks trying to work as a red Ford pickup rammed itself into the light post in front of my house, successfully wrapping around the pole and destroying the front windshield. The twisted metal bent inward towards the driver and passenger seats, killing or critically wounding the driver and their companion.I woke up like I had bad dream: snapping awake and immediately alert to my surroundings.
