There were many Mense concepts that the majiks didn't bother to understand even before The Happening and certainly not after.

Insignificant aspects of humanity, that made little sense and inhibited the lax sense of morality the Mense expressed as an importance.

Such as  covering one's self in various lengths of cloth in shame, espically over their sex. Rules that people must follow because of said sex. As well as rules about intimate moments of pleasure with whom they could include and what said activities could be.

Rules of what was seen as decoration and in what areas, rules of which animals you could farm or eat and long set traditions or gods that the Mense idolized.

Social manners that had to be followed as well as a strange matter of currency that was in itself worthless.

While the Majiks traded work, teeth or treasure, humans would trade in dull coins or cattle.

Which is what made the treaty signing so hard, what where the fae meant to do with piles of coins they did not want or large quantities of animals they could not eat.

The Mense had enslaved their people  and had no real want for teeth, or need for treasure - it could not be sold.

The deal was finally struck by the queen of the Majiks' Court and the king of the Mense', A heir for an heir.

*The king, as a father would not allow his heir to marry a century old monarch and so his wish was granted to have his heir marry the last in the queens line.

A beautiful girl was born on the Mense side and a equally charming boy on the Majiks, and all was set to work.

Though neither needed the other kingdoms riches, tokens of affection were sent for the few decades the heirs were apart.

Upon the birth of their son, the last gift was issued, three, private, gifted Majiks to watch over the King's son and wife.
