Euphoria

Chapter 1

(Note from Author all talk between wolf and their human is in italics.  All talk through the pack link is done in bold)  

I'm leaving my home, and only family I've ever known and why? Well to answer that question I have to tell you a little bit about me. 

My name is Chim and I'm a wolf shifter.  When I was 5, my parents were killed and my mother told me that I was never to tell anyone about my secrete. I've kept that promise to her. 

People look at me and see a 6' muscular guy with deep blue eyes. Some have called me scary and others have called me sexy. What the hell should I know, I'm just me with a secret that I can't tell anyone.  

I was the Beta of this pack.  I could have been Alpha but I let my brother take that role.  When JK moved to the pack my problems started.  He turned out to be my mate, but he didn't want a male mate and has slept with nearly all the single females of the pack.  

I want to travel and discover new things and to get away from JK.  I've spoken to my brother, he wanted to throw JK out on his ear.  I told him though that I've been feeling kind of restless and need to go and see more of the world.   We haven't told anyone of my decision.  Jed will tell them once I'm gone.

I look back through the rear-view mirror as I see the only home, I've known disappear from sight.

'Come on Chim, we are going to see the world' Saint tries to assure me. 

'Yeah, we made this decision together. It's a new adventure,' Selene' also encourages. 

'Thanks' I say in my head tanking them. 

Yes, this is the secret, I've got two wolves one male and one female. They've told me that it is a blessing from the moon Goddess. 

They've both been feeling like there is something out there that calls to us. So here we are on the highway moving into the unknown. 

We are going to have to be respectful of other packs and notify them of our presence if we stay within their territory. The miles pass by and my first day of being away from my pack tics away with the setting sun.

2 years later somewhere in the Canadian Rockies

'Chim wake up.  I'm hungry' Selene moans in my head.  

I crack open an eye to see the sun is well up in the sky. I found this hiking cabin late last night and decided to stay here for the night instead of making the long trek back to the truck. 

"I'm awake give me a sec" I mutter stretching and scratch the stubble on my jaw. 

"All I have is, yesterday's leftovers" I say out loud. 

'No, lets go hunting' Selene whines 

'Yeah, I smelt elk yesterday' Saint agrees. 

I rub my face and stand up and walk to the door stripping my clothes on the way. I open the door and take a deep breath checking there are no humans or other animals about. 

I smell rabbits and other small critters but nothing big so shift.

'Oh come on, it's been ages since you let me hunt' Selene moans 

'Yeah, she's right' Saint agrees. 

So, I close my eyes and let Selene out.

'Oh, this feels great' she tells us stretching and shaking out her fur. 

'Smell that?' she asks 

We realise she caught the scent of a pack of elk a few miles away from where we are.  She pushes off and races towards them. 

'Show off' Saint tells her. 

'Ha, I'm just fast man. This body was made for speed and I'm going to make the most of this time' Selene laughs enjoying the freedom.  

I don't let her out as much as I should as I'm always worried, I might meet another shifter. Selene slows and keeps downwind hiding behind the thick vegetation as she creeps closer to the herd of elk. 

I watch through her eyes as she spots an older elk.  Selene doesn't like to kill mothers or young if she can help it. 

She springs forward and catches the older elk unawares. Killing him quickly the rest of the herd scatter so we pull our meal into the thicker vegetation before starting to eat.

'This is good' Saint praises as Selene has her fill. 

Her ears pick up and twitches when we hear a twig snap. 

'Fuck, Saint shift' I yell in my head. 

Selene lets him take over and shifts into Saint. Then checks that Selene's scent is now masked by his before edging out from the thick undergrowth. 

"I thought I smelt another wolf, but I thought it was female.  What are you doing here?" I tall well-built naked shifter asks. 

Saint tilts his head and regards the shifter.  

"Are you going to shift?" he asks me.  I know Saint would run if I asked him as he knows I don't like strangers seeing me naked. 

There is something about his eyes though that make me answer yes. Saint gives back control to me and I shift.  

The man standing in front of me has a couple of inches on me in height and his muscles are bigger too. 

"Sorry, if I'm trespassing on your land.  We are just passing through and hungry" I tell him.

"Wow, you have really pretty eyes" the stranger says in a very deep voice. 

"Um, thanks" I say looking at him more closely. 

I feel a pull when our eyes lock 'mate' Saint growls. 

'What? We left our mate?' I say perplexed as to how we could have another mate. 

'He was Selene's mate' Saint says 

'This here is a fine-looking man' Selene purrs and I shake my head. 

"Mate, you're my mate" the stranger says. 

I refocus on him to see the most beautiful smile on his face that my mouth goes dry and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. 

"Goah" I say finding it hard to speak with my dry mouth. 

"Sorry, yes" I apologise and smile back at him.
