A/N: For the sake of context, Fugo is 12 and Narancia is 13. Enjoy^^

Klang! Click! Swords interfere with each other. Narancia tries his best to keep his guard, but his opponent was too strong. The metal helmet was getting harder to see in. He stumbled and fell on his bottom. "Ow! Fugoo, I think I busted my ass, can you kiss it better?" Puppy eyes. Fugo's weakness.

The other just laughed while taking off his headpiece. Fugo's hair got a bit messy, which made the orange boy blush a bit. "Nara, that's weird, besides, you improved on your defense. I'm proud." He's proud of me? He placed a hand on the shorter boy. "You up for another round?"

Nara decided to take a peek out of the huge windows of the training chamber. It was getting late and he began to become hungry. "Maybe I've had enough for today, let's head home." Fugo agreed. They put the swords back, packed up their things, and left.

--------------------------------------------------

The village was almost empty. People inside their homes feasting, spending time with their families. Hazy lanterns lit up the path to the boy's house. Since they don't have a home of their own, they live in an orphanage up on the mountain. Under the eyes of Mother Bucciarati and his apprentice, Brother Leone, they lived an almost average life. The food was great, other kids got along well, which made Fugo feel more welcomed than his previous home. But alas, the sight of other kids with their families made his stomach hurt a bit.

Luckily, the boys arrived right before the strict curfew, which could lead them in deep trouble if they missed.

Fugo knocked on the huge oak doors. No answers. It took a minute for him to notice. Every other light was off, instead of the dining room.

Ah, dinnertime. "Hey, what's the hold up? I'm becoming hangry urrgh!" Narancia placed a hand on his stomach, showing how hungry he was.

"It's dinner, so everyone is inside the dining room. We need to get in somehow," This led the older boy into a complete panic. He was breathing heavily and

"So we're STUCK? Are we going to have to sleep outside? What if we get attacked or-" Fugo placed a hand around his mouth. Then, dragged him to the side of the building. Footsteps.

"Shut up, you hear that..." the younger boy's eyes quickly shifted from side to side. Without thinking, he peeked around the back of the brick building. The footsteps seem to have belonged to- AHA!

Mother's assistant! Brother Leone! He could get them both inside before anyone notices! He seemed like he was taking out the trash and grumbling to himself. Typical.

It was too late when Fugo realized Narancia was already gone. Oh NO! "Brother! HEY! OVER HERE!" If he keeps yelling, other people are going to notice! Leone turned and then-

"Huh? Who goes there?" He grabbed a torch and swung it around, to those who may care. "You aren't slick! Whoever you are! I know you're out there!"

Behind a conveniently placed boulder, Fugo almost choked Nara in anger. He didn't make sure to make too much noise, because he'll get noticed. When he calmed down, he said, "Look, we need to get inside, fast. Dinner is going to end soon." He made Nara face him. "You're good at animal noises, right?"

He nodded.

Fugo pointed a finger at some scattered boulders in the area. "I need you to get as close to Brother as possible. When I make a crow sign, I need you to let out the best growl ever. While you do that, I'll make an impression of Mom. I know Brother really cares about him, so he'll be off almost instantly, thus, letting us go inside with no obstacles. No trouble."

Nara really loved this plan. Messing with the apprentice was like a hobby. Most times when Leone fell asleep while doing chores like, watching the kids play, or something like that, Narancia would splash a huge bucket of water on his face. It was kind of helpful, to be honest. No one liked when Mother gets angry.

The moment Brother turned away, the plan was in motion! Narancia scrambled to his position. Only a few seconds did Fugo nod and made a bird sign. "GRRRRORWLLLL!" His noises sounded realistic, so it was obvious it caught the apprentices attention.

"HELPP! A BEAR GOT ME!" Fugo's impression was way better than what Narancia expected. Alas, Brother seemed sceptical of whether to believe it or not. He's been known not to care about other people unless it benefts him in some way. Harsh, but "It's how life is", according to him.

A final scream is what made Leone moving. "HELPP! LEONE! I NEVER GOT TO TELL YOU I LOVE YOU! THIS IS OUR LAST TIME SEEING EACHOTHER, REMEMBER I'M ALWAYS WATCHING YOU FROM ABOVE!" Narancia made a face at Fugo as if saying "huh" but he just shrugged. Most of the older kids noticed their two caretakers slightly making flirty comments at eachother. They have to have a relationship outside of the orphanage, right?

"Oh god, don't worry Bruno, I'm coming!" Now this is what Fugo didn't expect. In Brothers bag, was a wool bag holding the biggest crossbow he has ever seen. Fugo knew Leone was a decendant of the Abbacchio bloodline, which ended several wars between other villages, but he didn't know he had the same weapons used by his relatives! With a little mumble, "Never thought I'd use this today," He was off in a second.

This makes Fugo wonder about how there was possibly another side of Brother that no one knew. A part of him he never shows the world. Unless, to special people of course.

Soon enough, the two boys emerge from the hiding spots and rush inside the creaked door. Narancia was speaking a mile a minute with comments like, "Did you see that? OH MY GOD! He had a crossbow holy crap!" Fugo ignored him, but he was just focused on getting to his room.

Once they reached their rooms, they agreed to split up. Narancia headed for the Dining Room, which left Fugo. Who had a lot of stuff to think about.
