also, this is going to be a lil bit angsty so be prepared
After a two hour hunt, Leone came out looking like trash. His ponytail was knotted up and dirty, his clothes were stained by dirt and river water, and he was crying. No, not crying, sobbing. He failed. He failed to save the one he loved. He dropped his equipment and gone on his knees.
He screamed his heart out.
This wasn't the first time he lost a loved one. His parent's were both in the village's armed defenses, and well known because of their amazing fighting skills. Sadly they were both shot and killed during a battle with a rival town. Sometimes he wonders if they were still alive. Would they be disappointed? Most likely. His sister, Alessia, was murdered in her sleep during a break in. His only friend was killed right in front of him. Relatives were either dead or out of town. So, that left him alone. These events put Leone into a deep depression. Alcohol was just another name for water. He never left his house, but when he did, people looked at him funny and kids were afraid of him. That is, until one morning.
Markets were strangely empty today, Abbacchio liked that. No one to stare at him and call him names. However, during his daydreaming, he bumped into someone. And that someone, was one of the prettiest men he's ever seen in his life.
"Ah, I apologize sir, need a hand?" His voice was moderately soothing. Raven black hair, some basic clothes. But the only thing Leone can focus on is his eyes. Blue sapphires stared back at him, seeming to glisten under the warm sun. He introduced himself as Bruno, caretaker of an orphanage near the mountains. It was destiny.
Soon enough, Abbacchio was hired as a second caretaker. Brother Leone, the kids would call him. He didn't even like kids. Heck, Leone didn't even want to be in this job. The only reason he agreed to it is to see Bruno again. Every day.
But that's gone now.
"How am I supposed to tell the kids?" He sighed and kept himself together. Abbacchio entered the building trying to keep his composure.
Footsteps. He heard footsteps. By now, all the kids are asleep. Who was there? Abbacchio went deeper down the hallway, bracing himself for what to come. He heard, water? What? He went deeper until-
There he was. Safe and sound.
Bruno was washing the kids laundry for them to change into tomorrow. Leone couldn't control it. He ran up to Bruno and hugged him. Hard. Tears ran down his face like a waterfall as he held on to the other.
Bucciarati was worried, "Leone! Wha.. what's wrong?" But he didn't stop crying. Out of his unintelligible mumbling, phrases he seemed to understand is "don't leave me," and "I love you so fucking much,"
After a few minutes of consoling his apprentice, Bruno asked, "Are you okay, you really worried me, did something happen?"
Leone finally got the courage to speak. "But...the bear...I thought you died,"
"What bear? What do you mean?"
Huh?
Abbacchio was confused, no , bewildered. Is this a joke? Either way, he was glad Bruno was still alive. After a lengthy silence, Bucciarati got up. "I hope you feel better, but I need to finish the laundry, and set it up to dry, and-"
"I love you..."
Bucciarati stopped.
"I love you so much...ever since we met, you've always caught my eye. You don't realize it, but the only time I feel at ease, is with you, Bucciarati." Leone didn't care what he said anymore. His feelings took over him. Before he can say another word, Bruno kissed him softly. His lips were soft...so soft.
Abbacchio wanted this moment to last forever, but Bruno pulled away. For a second, it seemed like the world just stopped. It was only the two of them.
and Leone loved it.
Down the Hall,
Due to his insomnia, Fugo was wide awake. He heard the convorsation between his "parents". He can't help but feel pity. But he was glad it led to an amazing outcome.
