Chapter 2

Hiding
I looked over at her, sleeping in our bed. She stirred, but didn't wake. I sighed.
"Blink." I called. She moaned softly. I shook my head. "Blink. Get up."
"NO!" She yelled, throwing her pillow at my back.
She's been this way ever since her parents vanished and we moved here. She hasnt gotten out of bed unless it was to use the restroom.
"I swear you've forgotten to walk." I chuckled.
"Nuh-uh." She said, throwing the covers off of her. She sat on the edge of the bed, placing her feet on the sand. She stood up, took one step, and fell to her knees. She cursed under her breath.
"Told you." I smirked, running my fingers through my hair. Today was a day where I risked it all. Once a month, I go shopping for food, clothes, and any other items we need.
"Do you want to come with me today? You need clothes, Blink." I sighed, walking over to her. I placed my hands on her waist and pulled her up. "C'mon Blink."
"Yeah, Yeah. I'm gonna come with you." She said, wrapping a small, fragile arm around my shoulders.
Shd looked at me and smiled sheepishly. "You're gonna have to help me." I nodded briskly.
I walked over to her drawers and opened them. I pulled out some ripped skinny jeans, her favorite white sweater, and a black beanie. I also grabbed her red vans.
"This all?" I asked. She shook her head.
"Get my fingerless gloves that go with that beanie." She said pointing to a different drawer.
I opened the drawer and turned around to see a shirtless Blink. I felt my cheeks burn. I looked down at my bare feet.
"Did you get my gloves? Oh good!!" She said, walking over to me slowly. She now had her jeans, sweater, beanie, and shoes on. She snatched her gloves away from me and put them on.
"Go get ready." She shooed me off. Then she grabbed my arm. "No wait. I wanna pick out your clothes!" She scurried over to my drawers and pulled out a black longsleeved shirt, with holes in the end of the sleeves to put my thumbs through. She also pulled out a pair ripped jeans for me. She threw those at me, and she walked over to my shoes.
I slipped on the jeans and realized these were the ones she made me buy the past summer, the guy skinny jeans. I shook my head smiling, and took my shirt off. I picked up the black one off the bed and put it on, putting my thumbs in the holes of the sleeve. I turned around and she shoved white converse into my arms. I put them on and looked up at her, when she put her fingers in my hair, making it spike up. She then pulled a beanie on my hair and smiled at her creation.
"Thanks Blink." I said, grabbing her raybands aviators and my black wayfarer raybands. I shoved hers on her face and put mine on. I grabbed her hand and pushed her out of the partial hole in the wall of the cave that we usually have a rock infront of. I crawled out after her, securing the rock after us. I walked over to her and held her hand. The Buttons never went anywhere with out their Partners, unless it was for work.
"Let's go, Blink." I said, walking towards the public beach. Once we got there, a Button photographer stopped us.
"Can I get a picture of you guys? You are just a cute little hipster Couple!" She asked, excited.
Blink smiled. "Of course! What do you want us to do?"
The girl, about sixteen, blushed. "Can you... yano, kiss?"
I just stood there blinking my eyes, and Blink looked taken aback but answered with ease.
"Sure." She turned towards me, smiling softly. I was a good four or five inches taller than her.
"Wait!" The Button called, she scurried over and whispered something in Blink's ear. I caught it though.
"Stand up on the tips of your toes, It'll be really cute." She said.
Blink got on her tiptoes, and brought her lips to mine. Though I was surprised, I fell into her rythm and kissed her back. I could hear the snaps of the girls camera. It must have been one where the photo printed from the camera because she handed one to us when we finished.
"Thank you!" She said, scurrying off. Blink put the photo in her leather satchel. She took my hand and dragged me away from the beach.
Where found an Iris.
Hiding.
