Syria Black was your ordinary everyday teenage human girl. She was the kind of girl who stood up to the 'cool kids' and had a lot of friends for that. She was beautiful......on the inside at least. She was tall but fat.....very fat, she had dark brown eyes, short hair that barely passed her shoulders and wore huge glasses that aged her appearance.
She didn't have any male friends but all her female friends had boyfriends. She was the only single person in school! She didn't wear fashionable clothes since her family was broke and they barely had enough to eat. Luckily, her best friend was the richest girl on the cul de sac. Syria was fond of her but secretly envied her perfect life.
Anyone would, actually everyone did. Amethyst had it all ever thing you could imagine. But best of all she had the best Halloween parties and it just happened to be October 31st.

Syria was at Amethyst's mansion helping her choose an outfit. Amethyst came out of her walk in closet wearing a knee length crystal blue Cinderella dress. "How's this one?" She asked.
"Great," Syria replied honestly.
"You always say that," Amethyst pouted.
"Cause you rock everything in that closet," Syria shrugged.
"I know right!" Amethyst squealed, "now let's do you party's in ten minutes!"A few minutes later Syria came out of the closet in a black lace dress. "Your outfit doesn't have a theme but you look fab!" Amethyst squealed and Syria could have sworn her ears groaned. Syria turned and looked in the mirror, Amethyst was right!
For the first time in her entire life she actually looked pretty. Before she had a chance to say anything Amethyst was dragging her to the west wing where the part was supposed to be. The music was blaring and Syria could feel the thud in her chest as she stalked into the room with Amethyst at her side.
Everyone on the guest list went to their school but the room was so packed Syria couldn't recognize anyone, and she knew everyone. After about five minutes of partying, Syria noticed a strange guy checking her out. Amethyst nudged her with her elbow before whispering for her to go over to him.
She reluctantly strolled over to the stranger. He was tall with neat dark hair that curtained his face but couldn't hide his crystal blue eyes. He had was dressed in black from head to toe and was leaning casually on the wall. Syria stopped midway beginning to have second thoughts on whether or not she should talk to him.
All her life she read about fairytales, true love and happy endings but never had one. Few people knew she was responsible for the majority of the couples at her school. She sighed and thought to herself, " the last male that looked at me was that stray dog last month I've got nothing to lose.
She was about to walk over to the mysterious yet slightly intriguing stranger when she saw that he was gone. "Great I lost him," she grumbled. She was about to return to Amethyst when she bumped into someone. Liquid spilled all over her dress and shoes and a husky voice apologized repeatedly.
She was about to protest when she looked up and met the most gorgeous familiar pair of green eyes. The owner of the green eyes smirked before saying, "Hello cupcake." Syria's eyes widened and she took a step back. "Alex," she whispered, fear wrapping around her.
