"Mum, Reinard is hitting me again!" Esra whinned. Mum went ahead and told her to flee, pointing out that," You are the oldest and hence need to take charge and quit being too soft for Reinard to hit." Esra was infuriated looking at her younger sister who blamelessly loved to beat her with a wooden stick simply because it was fun, hilarious but true. I guess it was a sibling thing where the more physical one bonded with other through bullying, correct me if am wrong. That's how these two got even closer. The intricacy of a sibling relationship continues to bewilder me till date. We can hurt each other but nobody else is allowed and permitted to hurt you. What do you call of such a bond, if not intricate.
Esra being her mature self, always chose to walk away and not fight being the more diplomatic one, always striving for peace not only in school, church, hangouts but also at her very home. Reinard was the most vocal one, a bit more physical than emotional but oh well, that's family for you. Like any other ordinary family, there was the constant battering of the remote, food, water and basically anything that permeated a lee way for competition. School was not an exception as that marked the peak of their constant bickering of who is getting what where when and how. hilarious but oh so true.
Esra was in love with the very concept of education, she loved sinking and sucking all the information from any book she could find. Always thorough at her work, she ensured that she left no stone un-turned in terms of research , study, questions, you name it. Reinard, like any small sister yearned to be like her sister, always inspired to be the best at academics in the end getting to excel greatly at everything she considered part of her. A competitive one, if i might add but smart nonetheless. They say give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar. Give credit to those its due, always.
