The sun shone brightly upon two babies that laid beside each other. Their eyes were closed as they bathed in the warmth of the sun. A mother pushed the stroller that contained the two, often stopping to check if any of her children had woken up. The birds would chirp time-to-time as they sang their tunes to no one. Today was a beautiful day and tomorrow would be no different.
One of the twins cracked his eyes open, greeting the sun with his gaze. A white blanket with cloud designs was draped over him. His big eyes looked around the area. He turned his head to his brother beside him. His brother was in deep sleep from the drool that was coming out of his mouth. He stayed silent as he tried to examine his surroundings, but his height could only do so much for him.
"Oh, Mumu! You're awake!"
Mumu looked to the side to see a smiling woman. Her eyes were closed... or maybe she had thin eyes? He wasn't so sure himself. He hadn't realized the stroller had stopped moving. As he tried to speak, only gibberish came out of his mouth. To him, it sounded like he was speaking words. To his mother, on the other hand, it sounded like gibberish.
The mother let out a soft laugh as she patted Mumu's head. Her eyelids cracked open to show the turquoise eyes hidden behind them. A smile was still evident on her face. "Ah, how adorable," she giggled as she got up from the bench. She stretched her body as she looked towards her two sons. "Now, let's continue our walk," she chirped.
Mumu went silent as he stared at his mother. His eyes watching her every move curiously. He wasn't that foolish to think that demons still existed. If they did, his mother shouldn't be smiling as brightly as she should be. A smile crept onto his face as he relaxed in his small bed. "You did it, Tanjiro," he thought, "Congratulations on killing Muzan Kibutsuji."
He looked forward as he saw children and adults walk around happily. No one was scared nor were they paranoid. This... really was an era of peace. He couldn't help but smile even more. He looked around his surroundings. So many people around him looked familiar. Some looked like the ancestors of the people he knew while others look like direct copies of various ages.
Mumu looked over his brother. "This must be Yuichiro then," he concluded. An idea popped up in his mind. He managed to raise an arm. Then, he started poking his brother's cheek. He watched his brother move a bit. Then, he continued this until...
SMACK!
Mumu froze in place as his brother smacked him in the face. His brother was now looking at Mumu, a small glare on his face. Mumu only smiled and let out a giggle as he lowered his hand. He had finally woken up his brother from his sleep.
"Yuichi! Don't hit your brother!"
Mumu and Yuichi looked at the direction of their mother. They just stared at her before Mumu smiled. A laugh left his lips while Yuichi just laid there, annoyed, as his brother continued to poke his cheeks. Yuichi managed to say sorry which sounded like gibberish to their mother. The two were happy though. They finally got to be beside each other without worrying about their lives.
Mumu and Yuichi looked forward to check their surroundings once again. This really was their new life. They recalled memories of the past that had long been buried with the existence of demons. Yuichi wanted to live his life to the fullest with his brother. Mumu, on the other hand, wanted to have some fun as a baby. He could do many more things without getting in trouble.
Mumu had a smug look on his face. While most mistaken it as a smile, Yuichi knew what it meant. Yuichi just shook his head and stared at his brother. He knew what the face meant. He had to make sure his brother didn't get stuck in too much trouble. Just like life, the carriage kept on moving forward.
Footsteps ran past them. Out of curiosity, Mumu looked at who it was. His eyes became wide as he recognized the burgundy hair in front of him. "Tanjiro?" he questioned as he struggled to sit up. His last resort would be him trying to speak. So, he decided to become loud. He started spewing out words that turned into gibberish once it left his mouth. He tried making grabbing motions towards the familiar boy.
"Mumu, you're being loud!"
Mumu didn't care.
SMACK!
Mumu immediately shut up as he felt a light smack on his cheek. He looked at his brother, only to see Yuichi glaring at him. "You're being loud," he stated, translating into gibberish to adults' ears. Mumu pouted a bit. He returned his direction to where the familiar person was. In place of the person was no one except air. He pouted even more.
Maybe he'll get the person's attention someday. He let out what seemed to be a sigh and shook his head. He was really hoping to see his face closer. He felt a wave of drowsiness take over him. He must've used most of his energy into poking his brother. A yawn left his throat as he relaxed into the blanket. He closed his eyes and fell into a slumber.
"He must've really liked the running man, right, Yuichi?"
Yuichi looked up at his mother. He couldn't help but smile as her. As if he was trying to say something, he let out a small 'un'. It may have not been a proper yes, but it was an agreement with his mother. He looked at Mumu's sleeping face and his eyes softened. It was nice to see his brother's carefree attitude. After all, what did they have to worry about? There's only simple peace for them without having to worry about the night.
He looked up at the sky with his smile growing bigger. Maybe he should go stargazing with Mumu when they become older? That'd be nice to see the stars without the fear of being attacked by a demon.
