On this planet, lived two worlds. Humans. And Hybrids. Hybrids didn’t always exist. Humans were careless and ruthless. They’re existence started with a goat and a group of savage teenagers. I’m sure you could imagine what they did to the poor, unsuspecting creature.
The goat had a billy. A goat hybrid billy. News spread, yet the guardians of the hybrids sent it off to fend on its own. More of these hybrids began showing up and soon, a whole community of them were birthed. Goats, Cats, Dogs, Guinea pigs all sorts.
They were sent to a small community unbeknownst to all the humans, except guardians. All of which dying in honour of defending the hybrids location. Over many centuries, stories, myths, legends and fabrications were told of the hybrids, each human more curious and eager of these species. Until the day...it went too far.
~~~~~~~~
Hybrids live normal lives, according to them at least. They’ve heard rumors and myths about humans and their lives though they were never proven to be true to them apart from one, consistent story told by all hybrids.
The Guardians’ story.
A group of humans who helped shield the location of the first ever hybrid community, dying for the cause hence awarding them the name of martyrs courtesy of the hybrids.The story of The Guardians’ were told to each generation through either home school of secondary school in their tenth year and, as a recap, their last year of college/sixth form.
This is where our story starts. One of the many sixth forms for hybrids in the country. A small classroom in the east wing of the building.
A class of 10 students but mainly, 2 young men sitting in the corner by the window all the while listening to their professor, they also proceeded to do their own thing.
One was staring out the window, watching the birds fly passed in small groups as another was caring for its children in its nest, which it made in the tree nearest to the window the boy sat by. His brown ears had small flecks of gold in them, complimenting not only his brown eyes but his skin too.
He was the larger of the pair or rather “swole” as he would prefer. Gold also seemed to be his trademark as not only did his eyes have a few tiny flecks of gold, his snapback, which he would always wear backwards, also contained gold as he had the letters “KO” embroidered in golden embroidery thread.
“Mr Olusola!” He jumped, startled at the sudden outburst his professor directed at him.
“Care to reiterate what I just told the class?” The professor asked, snapping Kevin's attention to him.
He had eyes on him now. He sat in his chair thinking. What did he say? He thought frantically.
Good lord was he in for it now… Wait for it.
“N-No Sir.” Kevin looked down.
“You would if you’d been paying attention. The board is here!” He smacked the board repeatedly with the pointer he bared. “Not outside wherever you’re staring. Please pay more attention.”
“Yes Sir.” Kevin responded.
As soon as the professor’s attention was turned back to the board he heard it.
The snicker.
Slightly embarrassed and more so, annoyed. He turned his head to his right where his best friend was grinning up at him.
He was slouching in his chair, his legs practically taking up all the table space under both tables as his whole body shook at him laughing at the misfortune of his best friend. His green eyes shone with mischief as Kevin eyed him, turning his gaze back to the board.
