Jack awoke to the sound of two out of three of his sisters bickering.

His eyes snapped open, he saw the bay window that was in his childhood bedroom. Sitting up, he looked around the room.

It was his childhood bedroom.

Unplugging his IPhone five from his bedside table he stared at the date.

Monday, January 17th, 2016

Carefully putting his phone back down, he made his way over to his laptop which would be classed as outdated if he was back in 2020.

Opening it he stared at the homescreen photo, it used to be one of five boys favourite photos they'd taken together.

It was taken while Zach was teaching them all how to ice skate, since he use to do figure skating.

Jonah, Corbyn and Zach were standing, as for Jack and Daniel were posed while crouching on the ice.

They had all been childhood best friends at a young age, all living in the same medium sized suburban town.

There normally wasn't much entertaining in the town.

A few schools, an old ice skating/ hockey building with a swimming area included inside. The local woods which the five teens adventured into a lot, as well as the arcades that were located by the most popular diner and ice cream parlour in the town.

But his homescreen wasn't of the amazing picture.

It was of him and his sisters.

"Jack, are you up yet?" He heard his moms familiar voice.

"Yeah" Jack called back. "I'm just getting dressed"

"Okay, hurry up if you don't want to miss the bus" She spoke back, walking back downstairs.

Jack's eyebrows knitted together, either Jonah or Corbyn always picked the friends up.

Jack looked at his calendar that was on his laptop one more time. It was a Monday, so Jonah picked them all up since Corbyn had astrometry club in the mornings.

Jack pulled on a pair of jeans, a baggy t- shirt, a hoodie and some trainers. He rushed downstairs to see Ava and Isla now peacefully eating breakfast as his mom and step dad cleaned the kitchen.

"Since you woke up late you don't have time to eat everything. So grab a snack, I've put your lunch in your backpack and it's by the front door." His mom told him.

"Thanks momma" Jack gently kissed her cheek. "Why isn't Jonah picking me up?"

Ava and Isla looked up, giving each other confused glances as Kristin gave her only son a worried stare.

"Who's Jonah?" Ava asked.

Jack looked into the lounge, since his house had an open floor plan. There use to be a framed photo of the five boys when they between the ages of four, five and six.

But it wasn't there.

"Do you mean the Frantzich's son?" Darrin, Jack's step dad, asked.

"Uh, yeah" Jack looked back.

"I didn't know you two were friends" Darrin frowned slightly.

"We aren't close" Jack awkwardly looked around. "I have to go, I'll see you after school"

Kristin nodded, wiping the concerned look off her face as she smiled at her son.

"Remember you have to water the neighbours front yard when you get back" Kristin reminded Jack.

Jack nodded, walking out of the front door with his backpack over his shoulder as he made his way over to the unfamiliar bus stop.

The bus didn't take that long, it pulled up and opened the doors. Jack thanked the school bus driver as he wondered down the aisle of the bus to sit next to someone.

Most of the seats were already occupied by two people, or just one person who put their backpack in the way once they saw the boy.

That's when Jack noticed a familiar boy.

He had his hood up, forehead resting against the cold glass of the window. Jack smiled once he saw him.

"Hi" he smiled, sitting next to the seemingly lonely boy.

Zach gave Jack an irritated look, rolling his eyes at him.

"How was your weekend?" Jack asked.

"Shut up" Zach glared at Jack.

"Why're you in such a bad mood?" Jack carefully asked, this wasn't the Zach he remembered.

The loner rolled his eyes, huffing in response as he ignored the curly haired boy.

"Seriously, I haven't done anything to you" Jack frowned.

"If I'm seen talking to the schools weirdo then we are both in shit" Zach quietly hissed.

Jack's frown got deeper as he got angry. He remembered when he first came out his freshman year, but so many people had stood up for him that the bullying stopped.

He didn't understand.

"What?" Jack was genuinely confused.

"Don't act stupid. Jonah and his friends will torment both of us, now shut up" Zach warned, turning his back away from the boy.

Jack's face practically screamed with confusion as the bus stopped at the second to last stop before the school.

Where all hell was about to break loose.
