"Léda," Annie opened the door and pulled her into a bear hug. "I thought I heard you. Oh my Angels, I was so very worried. What happened? What did the Principal said? Are you suspended? Was Excubitor Akiyama very angry?"
"Don't forget to breath." Léda sidestepped her and hopped down to her bed. She was truly touched by Annie's concern but she was still thinking about what Raiden'd said; "She'd tried to protect you." These words were going to haunt her now. What if he was right and all her ideas about her mother being an irresponsible, selfish teen were completely false?
"I'm sorry, I was just really worried. Isabelle is such an apple," she said heatedly, her cheeks flushed.
"Apple?" Léda knitted her brows. Was this some kind of Biblical reference?
"Yeah, she's like this piece of apple among other fruit, makes everything rot around her," Annie said with an expression that suggested she was 100% serious.
"Okay," she said slowly before she burst into laughter, wondering what her friends would think if she called someone an apple.
This line of thought of course quickly lead to what could they be doing now? They must have been at the square, swapping stories about the first day of school. Did they know what happened to her? Did they believe she was a murderer? She shouldn't be thinking about this. It was only shadowing her mood that wasn't exactly bright anyway. Besides she could explain everything once she'd get away from here.
"So what happened?" Annie asked again, concern filling her voice. "Are you suspended?"
"No, I'm not." She kicked her shoes off and swung her legs in the air. "According to Raiden I'm lucky."
"He's right." She nodded seriously. "I think the Principal only didn't suspend you because you're new."
Léda didn't reply anything to that. Maybe, maybe not. She couldn't shoo the thought away that Volkov knew more than she let everyone believe. There was a secret under the surface. Something wasn't right.
"Was Excubitor Akiyama angry with you? He looked so incredibly terrifying." Annie shuddered visibly and Léda smiled.
It was true, Raiden could be damn horrifying and still, for whatever reason he didn't scare her. She remembered when he'd turned up last night and she'd known she'd been saved. Against all odds, she'd felt safe around him from the very moment she'd heard his voice on the street and laid eyes on him. Even when he'd turned up at the nunnery, her mind had had trouble assuming he'd been evil.
"He wasn't happy." Léda yawned, dropping her legs on the bed. "But I think he took it better than expected." She still felt a tiny bit guilty that he'd gotten scolded for something she'd done. This was one of the reasons why she'd never be a good team player. She didn't like other's getting heat because of her and she sure as hell didn't like taking the fall for someone else. Did that make her selfish? Possibly. Did she care? Not really.
