Trapped. Buried. You felt the urge to escape The horrible thoughts and mixed emotions you felt. You swept away all your feelings and started a new life. You promised yourself after Sam's death you weren't returning back into your old self. No more treasure hunting and no more adventures. It wasn't the same and you couldn't participate. Your best friend Nathan Drake was off living your best life and what were you doing? Working at a senior center. Hell. They paid well. You kept up with your personal trainer and worked out a lot. You were excellent at martial arts and your personal trainer suggested you'd take more lessons. You kindly refused, she leaned from the best. Without any contact you lived out your life peacefully. You did attend Nathan and Elena's Wedding. It was beautiful. The little eleven-year-old who used to climb houses with you was now getting married to a beautiful lady. You and Elena became friends after Sam's death. After Nathan started running errands with her. Nathan invited you out to come to explore with the three. Sullivan even persisted you'd come. He liked you the most outta the three. Sarcastic, confident, and bold.
You and Sully became friends before you started to isolate yourself from everyone. It affected you. Why would you do that? Supposedly Sam's death affected your way too hard and they way Rafe treated it was awful.
Ah, Rafe Adler. You almost forgot.
After Sam's death he continued to look for Avery's treasure and you simply couldn't do it anymore. Even Nathan left and gave up on him. You helped him slowly but he soon started to risk your life over his for this goddamn treasure? It wasn't even important. Of course he needed it. He was desperate enough for it. You eventually left the little mess he created as well. Years passed and you were still in a state of edge.
You came home one day from the gym and went to go check the mail. You grabbed your keys and opened up the mailbox to see a bunch of loans and debts being handed. Bills, Insurance. You sighed. Car Insurance, Car Bills, Light Bill. Are you still proceeding? Then you saw a letter from who?
Elena Fisher?
"Dear Y/N, Gosh how long has it been? We haven't seen you since the wedding and we miss you so much. Sully is basically desperate why don't you come on down to New Orleans! Nate's working and I are working too! We have our own little house and its pretty practical because we have two extra rooms. We miss you Y/N. Please come down and see us. Make it a surprise. I haven't told Nate that I sent this to you.
Sincerely,
𝕰𝖑𝖊𝖓𝖆 𝕱𝖎𝖘𝖍𝖊𝖗."
You smiled while reading the letter. "How kind." You whispered sadly to yourself. You locked up the mailbox and went back inside your small house.
At least it's better than the small apartment you were living in at 18. That brought back memories of the night that you left that horrible city and town with the Drake Brothers. You reminisced the good memories and threw the mail on the table. You wanted to sleep on the idea of seeing your "family" again but was it worth it.
Yes! You missed them and they missed you. Why were you soaking on these negative thoughts when you could be on a plane going to New Orleans! You quickly booked a plane to Louisiana and quickly packed your bags for tonight's flight! You called outta work; Threw clothes in a bag and hopped on a plane to New Orleans.
It was a new beginning. A new fresh start for you. A chance to see your old friends again.
Stepping off the bus. You looked down at the scribbled address on the back of Elena's note. You've never been to New Orleans. Its a first time for everything. You wondered while walking down the street why they picked to live here outta all the places in the world. You looked at the address again, "Jameson Marine?" You shrugged. Shouldering your bag, You started walking down the street heading towards the sign. As the sign became closer you felt butterflies taking off in your stomach at the thought of seeing Nathan Drake after so long. The last time you saw him was at His and Elena's wedding and that was quite some time ago. As you walked passed a ton of people they eyed you knowing you were an outsider. You kept your eye out for Nate and caught him talking to an older guy, who handed him a file before heading inside. He dropped the file off at his desk and headed back out. You watched his eye passed over you the first time, not even recognizing you. Then he seemed to do a double-take and take a second to look at you before snapping out of his faze! That was his best friend. You dropped your bags and came sprinting at him fasting than lighting. Nathan carefully caught you and laughed lightly. "Oh Gosh! Y/N! What are you doing here?" He asked excitedly as he put you down.
"Elena told me to come to visit and surprise you! So I figured what the hell. Anyways It's been so long! You look good!" You punched his shoulder lightly and smiled.
Nate chuckled and picked up his bags and draftily asked what you'd been up to.
You sighed then shrugged. "Odd Jobs. Exercising."
Nathan joked. "You miss the action."
You weren't going to lie. You missed it so much. "Yeah. Uh. It's difficult now Nate." You seemed to lift the questions with a dreadful smile.
Nathan nodded understanding what you were saying. "Same here. Elena and I promise to settle down and have day jobs. Less risky and better on our health." He replied. He did miss adventuring with you.
"Hell. Nathan Drake finding loss cities and El Dorado? I wish I would've tagged along. Sorry that I didn't." You quickly replied.
Nathan shook the question off. "Where are you staying? Because Elena and I have an extra room for you if you need it? It'll be nice having you around. Just like the good old days." he smiled, and forced one back knowing nothing was the same without his brother.
Sam Drake was one of the reasons why you refused to visit Nathan and Elena. Not seeing him there killed every second of you.
" I booked an Airbnb down the street. I don't wanna invade. Plus. I sleepwalk." You laughed a little bit. "Lunch on me though! I promise. Pick the place and I'll tune in."
Nate shook his head and sighed. "Fine."
Nathan offered eagerly to take you back to your Airbnb. He helped you checked in and settle in and then he left. You crashed soon after he left and fell asleep. You need this rest. You wanted this rest.
