The early morning NY sun beamed through my open blinds, shedding light on a new day, and the decision I had to make. Would I take the job offer? Should I? What if this was just some passive-aggressive joke that Mr.Wyatt was pulling to get back at me for the drink order thing? So many concerns ran through my head, but before I could choose, Cora walked in and like every Saturday and said we are going out to breakfast. That was perfect, I could confide in her about the right choice to make.

I got up, got dressed, braided my hair and walked out of the apartment with Cora. The car ride to the breakfast place was short, but the whole time Cora talked about her and her job because she had just gotten a raise. Lucky her. We got to the breakfast place, it was crowded. But Cora had previously done some managing for the restaurant we went to, so we got a table pretty quickly. We sat down and looked over the menu when we had both ordered, and Cora finished her bragging,  I told her everything. From how I found out who he was, to the job offer.

She was understandably shocked since she had lived in NY for her whole life she knew about Jack Wyatt. But then she was excited about the job offer in my field, so I told her that I'm unsure if I should take it, it seems too good to be true.

"Girl, please! This is Jack Wyatt we are talking about! He is DEFINITELY not the type to mess around! Let alone to a girl he just met! He is way too cocky to do that!" she says reassuringly

"You should take it, this is the job you need to get you going on your own business! When have I ever given you bad advice?"

"Ugh, never. I hate when you're right!" I reply with an eye roll.

The rest of the breakfast was non-eventful. We walked around the city for a little then went back to the apartment. I was dreading this moment because I was gonna call Mr. Wyatt as soon as I got home. I walked in and Cora sat me down on the couch and held my hand as I called Mr. Wyatt. But he was not the one to pick up.... It was a female voice.

She answered with a " hello! Thanks for calling Jac- *cough* I mean, Mr. Wyatt's office phone! This is Veronica speaking!"

Maybe it was his secretary, but then I heard on the other line a muffled voice say "DAMNIT VERONICA! GIVE ME BACK THE PHONE!" yea... definitely not a secretary. So, who was it? Before I could say or do anything, a rough voice said: "I'm so sorry, what can I do for you?"

"Hello, it's Ocean. I have called on behalf of the job offer," I said

"Oh hi Ocean, so? What's your choice?" he replied, once again I heard a muffled voice but this time it seems to be the woman, but this time she didn't sound so nice. "Who the hell is that? Ocean? JACK WHO IS THAT? What job offer?" whoever she was knew nothing about the job jack offered me.

"Hold on please Ocean," he said. "Veronica get out!". "fine!" she said.

Finally, I thought. I can finally tell him. At this point, my nerves were through the roof.

"Once again, I'm so sorry, let's continue where we left off.  So? Your reply?" he said

"I- I wanna take the job. Thank you," I said with a sigh.

"Great, come to 4517 emerald Dr. in two days at 4 pm. We can go over some things. The building is green when you walk in just tell the person at the front desk to take you to office 13.  And no, thank you Ocean. Bye"

I had done it. I had called AND ACCEPTED A JOB for the most notorious criminal kingpin in the whole U.S. The first thing I wanted to do was call my parents. But they still lived in Washington, so not only would it be 3 Am there, but my parents are very....protective I guess. I don't think they would like me working for Mr. Wyatt. So telling them was a no go. But one thing always distracted me from all major life decisions. Food. So that's what I and Cora did. We made a cake and ate it all in a matter of an hour. But the one thing I couldn't get off my mind was that female voice on the call. Was she his girlfriend? I think I would know if he had one, considering there were millions of articles when he picked up one piece of trash on the road. So if he had a girlfriend I think I would see that somewhere.

Ugh. Just the thought of him having a girlfriend made me cringe. He may be an ass, but he's a hot ass. I was in mid daydream of Mr. Wyatt when Cora said she was heading to bed. Without me even knowing it was 2:17 AM.

I slept until 12 pm, I had a sugar hangover. I had to go get a new outfit for the meeting tomorrow. With how important Mr.Wyatt is, I needed to look the part. So I told Cora I'd be out for most of the day, and got a taxi to Bloomingdales. I got a nice dress and leather jacket for tomorrow, if he doesn't faint over my outfit I'll quit right then and there. (lol not really) the rest of the day went quick, I got home, showed Cora my new outfit, then ate and went to bed before 10.  I had to be well-rested for the meeting tomorrow.

"No no no no no no no"  I screeched as I raced around my apartment in a towel wrapped around my body. I had woken up late and couldn't find my phone or keys. I had just gotten out of the shower when I saw it was 3:32 pm. I didn't have time to search like this. So I got dressed, curled my hair and threw makeup on my face...it was 4:02. I found my phone and keys (with help from Cora) and literally ran out the door and the 4 flights of stairs. I got to the building at 4:21. I walked in and walked up to the lady at the front desk, but she was on the phone so I just waited and tapped my foot impatiently. Once the phone conversation was over I opened, my mouth to say something but before I could she said

"Ah, Miss Jonson. Mr.Wyatt is looking for you. Sean will take you up to his office"

"Thanks, it's been a rough day" I replied "yea...i can tell," she said under her breath.

I was escorted to his office, my nerves almost beating out of me. When we got there,
Sean said "good luck."

I walked in unknowing that man behind that glazed oak wood desk, was not in the mood for anything or anyone, let alone me being late.......
