Hi everyone! I've returned back from the land of the dead. Just kidding! I'm back to give you a chapter. I know, I've been M.I.A for like six freaking years but I'm trying. Bear with me. Enjoy the chapter!

Kia Brown

Kia sat down as she explained the dynamics of her friendship with Dylan to her best friend, Tasha.

"So you're friends?" Her friend asked, a frown forming on her face.

"Yes," Kia answered and after a long pause. "No. You know what? I don't know what we are."

"So he breaks in your house and you're just fine with that?" She laughed. Tasha smiled and put her hands over her face. "Kia, if you don't explain why you're in this predicament in the first place, I'm going to tell your mom."

"Tasha. It's literally not my fault. I met him in front of my house. It would be rude to just send a homeless person away without helping them. It's called being compassionate, Tasha. You should try it sometimes," she snorted. Kia couldn't understand why everything she did had to be something so dramatic in her best friend's eyes. She was just a normal person trying to do a nice deed for a person in need.

"Oh, please. Don't give me that sad excuse. You know the only reason you helped him is because you like him. You're probably planning your future with him right now. Oh my God! This is like the beginning of an epic romance!" Tasha screamed.

"Girl, we are like almost thirty and you over here talking about the start of a new romance. I was just helping him. He needs a friend right now. You wouldn't understand, you have a new boyfriend every month," she snapped back. Kia loved her best friend dearly but the woman could never be friends with a guy. She always had to take things to the next level with every guy that she met. It got to the point where Kia started forgetting the names of her boyfriends. "How's the new guy? What's his name? Oh yeah, I remember now. His name is Trevor. How is Trevor, the most sexy and beautiful guy that you've ever met?"

"Oh shut up, Kia," her friend joked. "But in all seriousness, he wants a really serious relationship. And I told him straight up that I don't want something like that. I want something fun and spontaneous. Kia, you know what happened the last time I was in a serious relationship. It didn't work out and as much as I really feel the chemistry with Trevor, I do not want to explore that side with him."

Kia sighed. She understood that heartbreak was a very painful experience and no one wanted to repeat that. But she also knew that fear damaged you, it broke a person down into the tiniest fragment. And then to make things worse, you stayed that way. Fear was dangerous and if you didn't confront it, it could break you. She knew that from experience, her own personal story of hell involving her father.

Kia knew how she felt about Dylan. She felt scared. Not because he was a criminal or because she feared the reaction of others when they figured out she was helping him. She felt scared because someone could hurt Dylan. The longer he kept running, the more likely it was for the wrong people to find him and kill him. Her breaths became shallow and she felt lightheaded. She couldn't sit around and wait for something bad to happen. She had to help Dylan, whether he wanted it or not.

"Hello. Earth to Kia! I am trying to explain to you my crisis and you're daydreaming! What a horrible best friend," Tasha pouted.

"I'm sorry, Tasha. You should talk to Trevor but right now I have to go. I just thought of something and you made me think of it," Kia gushed as she ran to get her keys and jacket. She knew exactly why Dylan didn't want her to help him. However, she had the perfect plan of what she could do to put him at ease. She had to find him. That was all she could think about. When she found him, she could tell him her spectacular idea. It would be brilliant. If only-
