We ran through the forest, training ourselves, pushing ourselves to go faster than the other. I won the race, seeing as I was smaller in size and had longer legs. When we were done racing, we tackled each other and fought for most of the night. I needed to reacquaint myself with my wolf form seeing as it was sealed away for nearly 20 years.

As it neared dawn, I came to a horrible realization. In my transformation, my clothes had been shredded because I was new to this. Prior to this expedition, I had no idea that I was a mythical creature.

‘Damion. I need some help. I um…’

‘Don’t worry. We can return to my place before dawn. I have some old clothes that may fit you. My sister was about your size when she was killed.’

‘I’m sorry. I didn’t know you had a sister.’

‘It’s okay. I will avenge her death.’

‘I’m sure you will. And I’ll be there to help.’

‘Of course. All we need is a carefully timed attack and bingo!’

We trained on speed and strength a bit more. Suddenly, in the midst of charging at me, Damion skidded to a stop.

‘We better head back. The sun is nearing.’

With that, he turned and we galloped back to the village. He transformed to his human form and went inside the house. Before long, he had returned with a bundle of clothes which he placed in the backyard before returning inside.

I took the clothes in my mouth and hid behind a tall tree before envisioning my human self. I felt my bones rearrange and grow and in an instant I was back. I immediately pulled on my clothes. I knew I could trust Damion to not look outside but I wasn’t sure about the neighbours. Especially since day was breaking and people were starting to arise from their sleep.

I went inside, intent on formulating a foolproof plan for exterminating the vampire clan which destroyed my family. I was not tired by any means. Werewolves are usually insomniac so after a healthy meal, my brain would be at full capacity.

After making this decision, I joined my other half in making breakfast and we sat down to devise our infallible strategy.
