It was a perfect plan. The vampires would be weakest next three weeks as it was a full moon. They are usually at their strongest whenever there’s an eclipse but I somehow felt a connection to the moon even in my human state. Damion said that it was because I was the Alpha Female. In our history, the moon spirit is a woman so we Alpha Females are usually stronger than our male counterparts. It is said that  Hinasuki gave herself up to provide light to protect the humans from the vampires like her lover, Arrogara. The werewolves, also known as the protectors of the humans, roamed the world at night to keep the demons at bay. They could not appear out in the day as the moon’s lover, the sun was at his strongest. He was killed by the devils and his spirit joined the sun to burn them to ashes for their ruthless killing of humans.

We werewolves could not transform during the day because we had to aid Hinasuki at night because her spirit was nearly destroyed by the one who killed her. That was why the moon hardly affected those fiends.

Damion and I planned our attack until perfection. We trained at night and studied ancient scrolls by day, looking for clues to aid us in exterminating the vampires. Not once did we interact as lovers, only concentrating on the task at hand. We hadn’t even kissed in all the instants we spent alone. We had gathered quite a bit of knowledge by the time we were ready. We knew exactly how to kill these bastards. There was a certain unstable bomb which we made, combining magma from Mount Vesuvius and pure alkaline from the Gobi Desert. It was said to generate a powerful heat intensity exactly like the sun and was supposed to instantly vaporize many vampires. It was not used since the olden days and could be very dangerous to us but it was our only shot against the leeches.

The day before the full moon, we readied ourselves and transformed as soon as the sun had disappeared into the horizon. We ran at full speed to the new castle in which the brutes were hiding. It took us the whole night to reach the location and the whole day to find the castle itself. I slipped one of the human slaves a note that said Serenula Lonesomhel and Harker Calpurnia of Tzimisce were visiting and to prepare a ball.

Now these two vampires are from the most powerful clan and they travel a lot. Every one of those bloodsuckers would die to have them visit and they would literally. Just they didn’t know that. With that done, we waited the one hour for the sun to set. We did not transform but we did wear our custom made clothes. We dressed to kill literally and figuratively.

At midnight, as was the customary visiting hours for vampires, we made our way to the front door. We were welcomed graciously and I was disgusted to see the blood set in wine glasses on every tray available. Damion and I made our way to the middle of the castle floor, masking our scent with the sickly sweet smell of wildflowers. Everyone looked at us, scrutinizing our every move until we reached our destination. I glared until they sheepishly turned their heads away. They still glanced at us ever so often, trying to remain undetected. I laughed in my mind at the irony of it. We were the ones who were trying not to be caught yet these parasites were acting as though they were doing something forbidden. As quickly as I possibly could, I reached into my handbag and set the bomb before throwing it up in the air and dashing to the window from where I jumped, Damion right behind me. We transformed midair and ran a distance before stopping to look back. The entire castle was ablaze, not a sound to be heard. We trotted back to the castle wearily and on guard but not a trace was left.

Apparently, the myth was true. Thank God we had gotten away. After making sure that there was no escape route and that they had indeed been vaporized, we ran through a nearby forest and stopped at the river where we transformed back to our human forms. I was caught off guard when two strong arms wrapped around my middle and I was lifted off my feet momentarily but then I heard Damion whooping loudly and I relaxed into his embrace.

“We made it.” I whispered.

“Damn right we did! That was amazing! We did it! We got our revenge!”

“That we did.”

I turned to look at him and our eyes met. His were full of emotion as he pulled me close and our lips met. Fireworks exploded in my mind briefly and I understood his elation. We had won! We had defeated the vampires and we were free to do what we wanted now. We could be together without worry. I closed my eyes and pressed closer to him in sheer bliss.
